During the elections of 1996, the League of Women Voters of Cleveland hired us to write a series of short 30-second television advertisement scripts to get women interested in voting. We had to work together with several prominent Cleveland personalities and athletes, to make sure we captured their voices. It was a lot of fun, and we felt we were doing something not only political but educational. =)

Paul wrote a wonderful screenplay called "Tabitha" way back in the good old 1990s, and this well-known production company optioned it for six months. Sadly, there were no deals reached, but they loved the script! <3 It's still a testament to the fact that we know a lot about Hollywood, and still have some awesome connections. We can write a good movie. =)

The Savvy Guide To Digital Photography, published in 2006, was our chance to step out of the market industry a little bit, and get behind some of the sexiest digital cameras in the world. Big names like Nikon and Canon were only too happy to provide us FREE CAMERAS in which to do our research. (We still own them and love them.)

"Active, Controlled and Intelligent Packaging for Foods and Beverages", published in April of 2004, was our last assignment. This one covered the many different ways foods are packaged, and the scientific technology behind radio waves, computer chips and RFID programs and systems to make inventory so much easier.

"Adding Life to Foods: Trends, Techniques and Opportunities in Food Preservation and Shelf Life Extension" was our second exploration into markets and industries. This time, we dealt with the many food additives contained in just about everything edible that offers a greater shelf-life - whether it's good for you or not. =P

We researched and then wrote "Sugar and Sweeteners: Trends and Developments in Foods and Beverages" in 2003, a complete marketing and investing guide to the sugar industry, and the numerous sweeteners that were just beginning to make a lot of waves. And to think, the editors scoffed at us for predicting a 50% rise in sucralose in beverages in the next 2 years. Hah! We nailed it. =)

At the Flexible Packaging Association Fall Executive Conference in October of 2003, we joined approximately 200 CEOs and company representatives in the packaging industry, and gave a presentation to them, detailing our findings and outlook of the flexible packaging and food preservation industries in a retail environment. Yes, we were nervous. It was our first major presentation. =)

The Gale Group Research and Learning Center absolutely loved us in the late 1990s. We did much of their Internet database research and analysis of websites, and were contributing writers to a number of articles contained in their best-selling reference books including Contemporary Authors, DISCovering U.S. Government Agencies, African-American Firsts and World Biography and so much more. We would estimate we wrote close to 1,000 articles and examined more than 100,000 websites for their research.

After the horrific Columbine tragedy, we knew it was only a matter of time before our grant writing skills would be needed for safer schools. Working with the Streetsboro City School District in Ohio, along with parents, teachers and several enthusiastic children, we were able to conduct a major study on school safety, character development and enrichment, and thereby write and present a grant proposal to the State of Ohio for funding that would go towards making school safer. Again, we met with great success and funding was given.

Working with the Ravenna City School District, we were fully responsible for writing a federal grant proposal for the State of Ohio, in order to secure funding through Ohio's Scrap Tire program to build a brand-new track and field area for the high school athletes, to go along with nearly $6 million for a new football stadium. We were successful, and the new track was installed later that year. We also managed to secure funding for the school by writing a second grant proposal to science-geared grantors and foundations, to build a science center and wetlands study area for the high school.

Said "We are writing two grant proposals for economically disadvantaged individuals who need funding for medical and health expenses. It certainly feels good to help others this way. While we cannot guarantee a grant will be awarded, it's nice to know you at least put forth the best effort you could. =) Oh, and the kitchen is being painted and our three cats are going coo-coo. Yeah, that's a problem. =P"
