Said "After reviewing several applicants in detail, I believed that I had a good fit with Raven. Upon hiring, I expanded on my goals and objectives and she responded that she had a good idea of how to meet them. She responded to every request in a timely manner and all of her work was of high quality and reflected the mood and feel of what I wanted. The work was completed with a minimal amount of iterations and much quicker than I expected it would be. I will contact Raven again for future projects and recommend her unequivocally." to Raven OKeefe

Everyone is excited to have a new baby in the family, but it's not often that a really good photo of the newcomer is taken -- too often they have bad backgrounds, are poorly lit, out of focus, extraneous people in the frame, and so on. One of the more delightful types of portrait work I do is taking those photos and using them as reference for heirloom art portraits, of the new baby alone or with other family members. These are done in graphite, for the soft, gentle feeling it provides.

Very well done, babys are a tough subject!

babies are really difficult, probably because most of them look like Winston Churchill but their fond mamas and papas all think they are adorable! I'm getting nada work from this site, are you?

Nature illustration is a mixture of exciting depiction of colors and life forms that the artist may not have been familiar with prior to the project, and incredibly painstaking attention to detail because it must be completely accurate. This frilled lizard is one of several illustrations of native Australian animals that I did recently.

These irresistible baby animals are some of the illustrations I did for a children's book called "Li'l Critters." I can never look at them without going "Awwwwwww!"

Many authors I've worked with prefer black & white illustrations for their books, and the work that I do in pen & ink lends itself ideally to that. It allows me to include more detail than any other medium, especially at smaller "spot illustration" sizes, and the black & white keeps their production costs affordable.

My graphite portraits of people, especially those with their pets, are so much fun to do, and my clients are always tickled with the result. These are not the formal type of oil portraits that we see done of politicians or captains of industry, these are regular folks like us, relaxing with their friends. These are more "real life" to me than any posed portrait!

This is one of my favorite pet portraits, a noble cat named Griz. You can see his strong and loving nature in his eyes -- my portraits always begin with the subject's eyes. It's where his spirit shines through, and what makes him or her YOUR pet, not just A pet. These are done in a combination of pen & ink and watercolor, for great detail combined with warmth and color.
