COOL! This one grabbed my attention,
Shawn Saacke Crawford - Over 30 days ago
Boy, would I LOVE to meet that Grandmother! Have you by chance see. Any of the portraits by Sigmond Freud's son?
Shawn Saacke Crawford - Over 30 days ago
Hey Robert,
I was just telling Stephanie about how people print name or logo across their art to keep it from being duplicated straight from the Internet. Is this difficult to do on photos of artworks?
Bonafide Artist LLC. - Over 30 days ago
No,Shawn, i cant say that i have seen any of Sigmond paintings.
Shawn Saacke Crawford - Over 30 days ago
You should. They are NOT zombies, but the colors and complexity of his skin tones are just luscious — so much so, that some would call them ugly, compared to the subjects themselves. I think they are beautiful paintings, and less of a mask than one usual wears to hide behind. Sort-of 'stripped *****' even when clothed. You should check them out sometime. His name Lucian Freud, and he was Sigmund's grandson. There is a very interesting article (even though I only skimmed some of it; quite the window into his private world of the studio. There are two of his portraits at the beginning of the article.
Bonafide Artist LLC. - Over 30 days ago
Thanks for the Info.,Shawn, might could look him up through the internet too.
Shawn Saacke Crawford - Over 30 days ago
That's actually where I found the Vanity Fair article...
Bonafide Artist LLC. - Over 30 days ago
OK,Shawn.
Shawn Saacke Crawford - Over 30 days ago
So Robert,
You should check out Lucian Freud's portraits when you have a free few minutes.
Robert Allen - Over 30 days ago
I'll check those out. Might be interesting to see some work from the son of such an... interestin.... psychologist. And Shawn, It's not difficult to put a watermark across work. I just type in my watermark with a text took, make it either black or white text and then bring the opacity down to around 20%. Easy easy.
Shawn Saacke Crawford - Over 30 days ago
Thank You! Not only are his paintings interesting but the Vanity Fair interview — which I only skimmed mind you — talks about how his intimate studio sessions were almost as revealing to his models as lying on the proverbial couch in his grandfather's office. Good stuff.

This concept reminds me so much of traditional Chinese painting with India ink. Your cardinal being the wax stamp of the artist. Lovely!

Sorry, but awareness of what exactly? Gang violence? Zombie apocalypse? If the idea was to create an arresting image powerful enough to stop the viewer in their tracks and create enough curiosity to pull your viewer in Closer to find out more information — to read about your cause, perhaps, then this is an extremely disturbing and successful piece.
Robert Allen - Over 30 days ago
This was done for an awareness about gang violence. Guess I should have included that in the description! I like the iea of zombie apocalypse, however. I never realized how well this poster fits that. lol
Shawn Saacke Crawford - Over 30 days ago
Well, you do notice that my first guess was dead-on (no pun intended). So, STILL an extremely disturbing and successful piece.

Is this the same image of Saturn in space as used behind the artwork inspired by the movie "Fountain"?
Robert Allen - Over 30 days ago
Yes it is. Well, part of the image. I took the image of saturn from this and layered it into the other piece. As I keep originals with all the layers still intact it was easy to pull the planet from this one and put it into my other piece.

Wow. A powerful image. It immediately invokes a sense of patriotism only to draw you in and remind you of the stark reality In which our country remains free, as implied by the Constitution. Very effective.
Shawn Saacke Crawford - Over 30 days ago
I believe that even from far away, this image would still work on the viewer subconsciously. An extremely successful piece.
Robert Allen - Over 30 days ago
Thank you very much, thats most likely the best analysis anyone has ever said about this piece. :)

If I were still teaching I would ask your permission to use this design as a sidewalk chalk piece with my students. We had created one as a group project right in front of our school ever since the first anniversary of September 11th... That is until my oh-so-supportive principal decided that,"Oh,we won't be doing THAT anymore." And she was an army brat. The chief of Oak Ridge fire department had asked me never to quit celebrating Patriots' Day with the kids like this. I've always wondered what she said when the newspaper called our superintendent asking what the schools were doing anywhere in the city for Patriots' Day and he directed the reporter to call my principal since My elementary art students and I had always created the sidewalk chalk mural with a message. A real Shame.
Can't tell I'm harboring any bitter feelings, can you. To this day I don't believe she knows that across my entire bank of art room windows in the front of the school, I used window markers to fill them in with the HUGE message "Remember Patriots' Day 911". Over the weekend, I opened my shades and left the art room lights on so it lit up very well from our front Street. At least all the firefighters got to drive by and see it that night. I wiped it off on Sunday before she came into school Monday morning. What is art if you can't make a political statement with it, In order to further a worthy cause anyway?

Love the many dimensions you have created here. I see space, a burning sun, a tree on fire, and intimate spot For meditation, a third eye resulting from the meditative state of say, a monk or a prophet, Or basically just a symbol for enlightenment. I'm guessing I should see the movie?
Robert Allen - Over 30 days ago
It's a great movie. :) Not what you would expect, almost an artsy kind of movie. But I like the strange movies.:) This was done in photoshop one morning, took about 4 or 5 hours. Thanks for the kudos :)
Shawn Saacke Crawford - Over 30 days ago
I love those movies too so I will have to check it out. My husband and have a movie rather than a song and it's "What Dreams May Come". Emotionally gripping and visually STUNNING at the same time.

Nice example. Where would you get a photo of a bison like this? Public domain or personal?
Robert Allen - Over 30 days ago
This is a personal photo. I'm a professional photographer and this was taken on the side of the road while traveling through Wyoming.

How Freakin' AWESOME!! My husband took me to Jackson Hole Wyoming for an anniversary several years ago. I was hoping to see a moose but we slept in apparently too much. We Did get to tour the elk preserve and it was just amazing! Unfortunately, I am Not a professional photographer, and all of the incredible wildlife that we saw are just fuzzy, blurry spots in photos. Do you have more photography on your portfolio? I will need to go back and browse again!
