These illustrations are my final Master's project. I created them based on some parts of an old Persian satire called Kolsoum-Naneh or Aghayedol-Nesa (Mama Kolsoum or The beliefs of women) written by Agha-Jamal Khansari, who was a well-known Mullah of his time (Safavid period, 16th century) and a Faqih (an expert in fiqh, or, Islamic jurisprudence). It contains rules and instructions for women regarding how to deal with abominations and obligatories in personal, familial and social situations, given by five assumptive female ulema (scholars in religion). My illustrations tend to visualize the sardonic nature of the texts of the book. The texts are written in the style of treatises by so called Marja Taqlids or sources of emulation in Shiism, in a sarcastic way, in order to mock the superstitious beliefs of the people of the author's own time, especially the kinds of women who identified themselves as religious scholars. As the author humorously states in the introduction: "Every woman

About Me:
I have just finished my studies in Master of Two Dimensional & Digital Design, Edith Cowan University. I also have a bachelor degree in painting and have worked as a professional painter/graphic designer. I am willing to work with any concept I am given, with a variety of techniques, hand-rendered and computer generated. I am very good at working under pressure and meeting very tight deadlines. In addition, I have a "can-do" attitude and am always eager to learn new techniques and am a fast learner of new skills.
I am fully qualified in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign CS4 and can work with Dreamweaver and Flash CS4, plus my background in fine arts has given me a very good eye for creative and strong design.
