Wanted: Children's Book Illustrator - Freelance Children's Book Illustration Job 3921

AttachModifyEnd 0 Hires

Pays 160
The project is illustrations for a children’s picture book. I have a clear and strong vision for what I want. I hope to hire an illustrator for a total of $1,000 to produce approximately 30 final images that are print ready and publishable.

En route to the approximately 30 final images, there may be revisions as I may want this or that color changed, and this or that object to appear larger or smaller in the picture, etc. I mention this because I want to be clear that I’m not just asking for someone to crank out 30 first draft images and be finished (though that would be amazingly cool if that happened, I just imagine that it won’t turn out that way). That said, I’m also not talking about endless tweaking that would go on forever. I want the work actually finished so that I can move forward with my book.

Regarding payment, I’m thinking that it would come in the form of 10% up front as a gesture of my commitment to pay and of your commitment to accept to finish the project, then 90% at the end when all artwork is agreed to be completed and handed over. Because the book should have the same visual feel throughout, I think that having almost all of the images without having all of them would end up being of no use whatsoever. That’s why I don’t want to pay by the picture or pay a quarter of the money up front and end up with only some of the images. I hope that this makes sense. The timeline I’m hoping for is… perhaps three months, though the sooner, the better.

I imagine that whatever final version(s) the book might take (e.g.: eBook, webpage, and/or print), there would be something like a front cover and a title page. Assuming that your artwork is used, we’d share credit for the pictures. This would mean that your name would appear on the front cover and title page (or equivalents) if and when I manage to get the book into the world in one form and/or another.

Let me know if you have any questions. If you are interested, please apply with updated portfolio showing samples of your work so that I can glean a little bit about your visual style.
