LOVE, GHOST I saw you in the park today You laughed into the sunshine Leaves fell from behind You caught my breath with your beauty Made me cry with your duty Invisible to everyone around You saw me and a tear fell Reminded of all the tales you never got to tell You floated on air and found my face Whispered words blurred by pace I heard I love you and kiss me deep I moved away from your confusion You reached out Startled me with a loud shout No one stopped to stare or help me near “What’s wrong with you, my dear?” “You died in battle, a million year” Shock radiates & mixes with the sun I walk away and leave you there Please don’t think I don’t care.

FOLLOWERS OF THE NIGHT The moon lifts in the sky I smell your scent as you walk by I reveal myself With longing and undying thirst I can hear your heart burst As I find your warmth As night prevails, you begin to change I feel your rage You hate me for what I’ve done Oh, my dear the fun has only begun We glide through the trees, whispers on foot Ethereal in our look I show you all that you can do Be as quiet as the wind when it blew You drag me in and hold me long Smiling at our secret song You catch our mouths in a rhythmic kiss Ah, I finally fell, everlasting bliss Forever our lost bodies will unite Forever followers of the night.

LETTER FROM THE PAST This is a letter from the past Please, don’t marry that man Don’t love him Get out while you can If he’s seen on another day Turn around and go the other way He’ll hurt you Cause your body pain Unleash his anger on your face It’s not your fault, don’t believe He’ll say so as he leaves Letting you take the blame Letting you feel the shame The beating of body and mind Will not be relinquished with time You will be bitter and longing to quit I’m giving you an exit A letter from the past About a love that could never last.

JOURNEY I loved you from the beginning When our future wasn’t a thought When innocence was our virtue To the times that we just couldn’t get enough I loved you, as our lives evolved When maturity was a distance away Along with the idea of Holy Matrimony I loved you, to the days of old When your hand was all I wanted to hold I loved you, until our days of death When looking at your peaceful face was my only rest Hearing your voice was a longing breath I loved you And my dear, Our journey has just begun.

Please take moment and read a clip of my review of Sandra Brown's Lethal. “Lethal” begins with Honor Gillette’s daughter Emily informing her of a sick man lying in the bushes outside her home in Tambour, Louisiana. The second grade schoolteacher quickly took action, addressing her daughter to grab her cell phone and bring it to her as she tended to the man. To Honor’s surprise, she realized that the sick man wasn’t sick at all; his name was Lee Coburn and he was the man who murdered seven men the night before. After spending a long night with her captor, Coburn, takes Honor and her daughter with him as he leaves the town of Tambour behind; Coburn claims that Honor’s late husband, Eddie, held an item in his possession that was putting her and her daughter in grave danger. As their time quickly starts to run out, Honor is plunged into a world of deception and deceit as she learns that the people she loved the most are people that she shouldn’t trust...

Below is a clip of my review of The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman: “The Dovekeepers” is a story that portrays remarkable survival and spiritualism in the year 70C.E. It is based on the true events of nine hundred Jews holding out for months against the Roman armies on Masada; based on the inspiring series of writings from Flavius Josephus, The Jewish War, he writes that two women and five children survived the bloody massacre on Masada. Hoffman molded the stories into her own by introducing four outstanding women who tell their tale, while all meeting on Masada. Yael is the first story to be told, she is the daughter of an assassin and a mother who died during childbirth. She grows up with a father who blames her for her mother’s death and with an older brother who has always been kind and loving towards her...

Below is an excerpt of my review of Kathryn Stockett's first novel, The Help. Whenever I listened to my grandmother’s stories of her growing up in southern South Carolina in the early 1940s she would rattle off racial comments while she picked cotton for Caucasian families. The remarks were biased and something you’d find in fiction novels of today. Feelings of how African American’s felt during those times never seemed to be a major opinion in our history books. I always assumed she was over exaggerating and remembering a time that was forever going to be in the past. After reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett , I have come to realize that the feelings of yesterday are still raw to anyone growing up during those times. Help takes place in Jackson, Mississippi in the 60’s where a large number of African American women were maids to Caucasian families; raising their children and cooking their meals, all the while enduring the day-to-day challenges of their own lives.

About Me:
I am an African American female who has been writing for over ten years. I have a bachelors degree in Business Administration from Shenandoah University’s Harry F. Byrd accredited business school. I would like to gain my MFA in Creative Writing in the near future. To gain the experience in the writing industry I could not gain as a business student I became an active staff writer for WomanScope NewsMagazine. In the past I personally chose New York Times best-selling novels, written by female authors, to review for the monthly magazine. Presently, I am the author of several articles that are dedicated to raising awareness about consumer scams and threats.

I am an activist against violence through the event I co-started as a college student entitled The Glass Breaking Project: Breaking...
