The sharks swam round about her now, circling, always circling. The storm that had tossed the young angel into the shark-infested waters had moved on now and rays of light were beginning to shine through the clouds, but her wings had been stripped from her by the watery predators before she managed to clamber up on a solitary rock. Her long blonde hair billowed in the ocean breeze and her blood-soaked robe clung to her. She cried. The stone pedestal on which the small angel kneeled was small and the waves were slowly and inexorably eating away at the base, now barely able to support the rocky prominence above and the tiny figure atop it. When it went, so to would she and the sharks would have their fill. She was not having a good day at all. 16x20, digital

A stately unicorn overlooks her domain as her long mane and tail billow in the breeze. A mid-summer storm appears, rolling in over the slopes of a distant snow-capped mountain, obscuring it's peaks. Below, the mountain turns verdant, and wooded as it slopes down to the quiet shores of a secluded lake. In the shadows, among the trees, a line of tiny lights can be seen bobbing and dancing between the trees as they move slowly up the mountain, hoping to reach home in front of the fast approaching storm. 20x16, digital

The late afternoon sun shown through the muggy prehistoric air. White birds nested and flocked about a distant stone archway, hewn ages past by violent upheavals of earth and sea leaving a mighty river below it. The river met a cliff, tumbling into a tumult of spray and mist. Partially obscured by the mist, a mighty predator, the likes of which have never been seen since, stalked his prey. The Tyrannosaur roared, drowning out the roar of the waterfall and a small shadow huddled closer behind a rock, giant spear gripped tightly in hand. Two predators hunted each other that day. One hunted by instinct, tooth, and claw. The other hunted by cunning. Only one lived to see the sun rise another day, but which one? 16x20, digital

About Me:
I'm a freelance illustrator. You can see examples of my work at mattvg.crevado.com/illustration.

I have illustrated several independent children's books, created storyboards for commercial television, illustrated book covers, designed characters for puppet shows, illustrated game cards, and worked on a variety of other artistic projects.

I went to school for graphic design, but realized I disliked it and proceeded to take all the fine art and illustration courses. So, while I can create logos, advertisements, brochures, and websites, I much prefer illustration and find illustration of children's books particularly delightful.

My passion is to tell a story through every piece of art I create, to evoke emotion, and ignite the imagination of the viewer. Every aspect of my painting is...
