About Me:
LaVonia (Sammy) is a self-taught artist, a poet, and a childrens book author and illustrator. She began drawing when she was three years old, and has been practicing now
for 63 years.
Her portraits of famous people have been featured in Country Weekly Magazine.
Besides her own books, A Little Dog’s Tale, and A Trip to Pucky Huddle, LaVonia has illustrated books for Nashville artist Terry Smith (The Little Brown Dog and The Little Green Frog), Linda Hoff Clement (Hit the Road Mister Monster), and Ken Ralls (Henrietta Hippo Learns to Dance).
