Said "Artist, designers, illustrators, I say to you, be strong and proud of your work, cover your costs, what about studio lighting, heating, paper, materials etc…time food, living expenses…. As artists we love to create and express, but when doing it for a living, we must survive. By saying no to cheap/ free arty labour, you will help more artists because people hiring will start to pay a little more."

Said "After having a quick look at some of the jobs on this site today…I would like to say to people posting jobs….Please do remember when hiring an artist we have to eat and pay bills, (6 dollars for a painting that takes all day wont feed a doggy for a week). Please do bare this in mind when asking illustrators and artist to work for invisible or very little money.
I saw one ad on here, which I felt was pretty cheeky…..that person was refusing to pay a tiny $400 for 23 pages of illustration, the person wanted to only pay $150! Assuming that all the rough drafts, color studies and character studies and final artwk, paper stretching, scanning and editing etc all took only one day per image, this means for 23 days, the artist would be working for $6 a day!"

Hello I’m an illustrator. I mainly focus on children’s illustration but am also branching out to all other areas.
