I thought I dash one off before my one-man show at Oriole 9 in Woodstock, NY. It's called Palisades and measures 11" X 15". It's done in gouache on illustration board. I found a beautiful frame that somebody threw away so I grabbed it and created this painting to fit it. Please come see it and me on 9/6 between 5 and 7.

This one took a couple weeks. I was inspired as my son and I waited in the stone yard for the bucket loader to fill his pick up truck with crushed rocks for the job we were working on. I wandered around the premises and snapped photos of the strange, industrial devices, and brought the images home and selected one of this particularly gothic structure, placing myself above it.

TOWER OF BABEL gouache on illustration board 17" X 27" My Mom sometimes used to read Bible stories to us at bedtime but never explained that the book is metaphor, not history, so I thought for the longest time that foreign languages came about to confuse the crew that was constructing a tower to heaven because God didn't want them to get there. Then in my adulthood I came across the quote, "the Kingdom of Heaven is within" and I understood. This painting is based on a wonderful work by Pieter Bruegals also called "The Tower of Babel". I have a one-man show coming up for the entire month of September at Oriole 9 in Woodstock, NY. It will feature the bulk of my surreal works. I hope you can make it. I'm very excited about it!

Very interesting, another interesting thing about the Bible is it's historically accurate, many times over and it contained scientific ideas before they were proven to be facts, a Very interesting book indeed~G! Are you going to do a portrait of Nimrod as well, the architect behind the tower?

As soon as the archaeologists discover his remains. My interest in the Bible came about as a result of the writings and lectures of Neville Goddard. He gives very interesting interpretations of events and characters - very upbeat and positive, unlike conventional, fear-inducing accounts. Prace.

Peace sounds good, I myself am an admitted Bible Geek, I find it very intriguing, and I agree that the bible isn't a book of doom but a very positive thing to look into, If you look into the scriptures you will actually find that it's contents is very different than what the conventional religions teach or have interpreted like you say- Like hell fire and eternal torment, that's not really a bible teaching but was adopted centuries ago when pagan/Babylonian teachings combined to keep presiding "nations" and "kingdoms" peoples united after being concurred by other nations faiths, as well used as a scare tactic to keep the common man united with new Kings, church and lands in essence to control the people- Individuals were not allowed to have their own bible, they were killed if the did, especially those who dared to translate the bible into other languages. I think we can agree the Dark Ages and the Crusades were not because the bible knowledge was bad but because people chose to use the bible as a means to control other people. A very interesting book indeed~G! Sorry. I do go on, don't I?

Oh please! Do go on. I reiterate, Neville puts a compelling spin on all of this. I was totally indifferent to and dismissive of the Bible before stumbling upon him on youtube. He has also written some stimulating little books.

Ah, and the tower of Babel's ruins/ remains were found, I saw a photograph once, and ancient cultures have a similar story in their cultures, civilizations who could not have gotten the story from the bible, some of these are so similar it's very convincing:-)

About Me:
Hello. Thank you for looking at my work. I have been an artist all my life. I currently specialize in paintings done in gouache and/or drawings in pen and ink. I have worked as a freelancer since the mid 70's starting as an editorial illustrator for Crains business publications and the American Red Cross in Chicago. In my portfolio you will find many automotive renderings, people portraits and whimsical, surreal paintings. I have completed one children's book about two mischievous cats and am working on two others, one involving an ant and a rhinoceros, the other about an invasion of baby boomers.
