In 1976, the famous sculptor, Elisabeth Gordon Chandler, N.A., saw Jeff Damberg's work during his first week at the Academy, and offered Jeff a full working-scholarship with stipend and housing. For the next years, Jeff studied with teachers who taught at The Art Students League, and were members of The National Academy. In studio classes Jeff learned Portrait and Figure Painting from the renowned portrait artist, Robert Brackman, N.A.. Brackman taught what he had learned decades earlier from his teacher, the famous Impressionist, Robert Henri.
