Said "Currently working on two interactive educational adventure serious video games to be published later this year, a novel for defense next month for my masters, and anticipating publication on my first textbook chapter, "Teaching Through Video Games," which encourages K-12 educators to consider interactive and multimodal storytelling as a viable way to educate."

The first stage of "Becoming Real." It's my first true digital art project, save cartoony portraits, so I'd love any tips you amazing advanced Digital Artists have. So far, this is just Photoshop. I know InDesign and Illustrator as well, but I've not finished a full art (not graphic design) project on either of those before.

This was my favorite proposed logo design for the re-brand KXOU radio station, but it was not chosen. -- J.S.

Definitely not one of my favorite designs, though the font and amount of words was requested by the prof who wanted this made, I am still proud of the idea. She wanted a poster that could promote her class without making it appear combative, which is actually difficult to come up with when talking about race and gender relations. The form in the background uses sampled skin colors from myself and people I know, ensuring that just about every skin color imaginable is represented in the shape. In the end, I wanted it to show that they were all variations of the same colors and they all came together to make one human. -- J.S.

The V-Day 11.11.11 screening was presented with four posters. This was supposed to be a more somber take on the original idea. The photo itself is public domain and is from a training exercise. -- J.S.

Created for a (very wordy) professor to promote her class, this was one of my first posters. I was so terribly proud of that reflection in the camera lens back then, and even now, I still think it makes me take a second look. This was for print and digital. -- J.S.

This was a proposed logo for the student-run Lindsey + Asp PR and avertising agency. I would love to work in a color other than crimson for once, but in this one, I used their colors (crimson and white). This was when I was still learning illustrator and half of it was a total accident. The rest of the logo grew from the happy accident. I never heard back on it, which tends to happen there, but I still love the logo, regardless of the clumsy inexperience that I had when I made it. -- J.S.

Poster created for the screening of V-Day 11.11.11. I wanted to use an updated classic war poster design and ended up loving how it turned out.

As I'm sure many news followers know, OU was plagued with the best of horrible press when some of our students sang a shockingly cruel song that was caught on camera. What you may not know is that a group, named "Unheard," was already marching protests on the campus trying to be heard, hence the name, about race relations at OU. In reaction to that, and before the infamous video, the college I work for held a townhall on race relations. I wanted to go with something clean and classic for this poster (for print and "jumbo" monitor), using the college's official fonts and colors. This is my third option for them and the one that was used. -- J.S.

This poster was constructed from photos provided to me by the college. The poster, created for a "jumbo" monitor, was made for a first-ever event and had no original photos to use. I was given no guidelines other than to include the time and date, of course. Since I had so little to go on, I wanted to make the poster visually different from those being circulated on the monitor at that time, and I wanted it to be photo-heavy but clean so I could show what the event was -- expecially since the title of the event was so self explanatory.-- J.S.

The new official logo of the student-run KXOU, by me and chosen from a selection of around 20 logos. This logo uses the school colors and the design itself is reminiscent of their old logo, so listeners will recognize them despite the re-branding. -- J.S.

About Me:
I am a designer, writer and editor. I understand how to pair visuals and information, for readers and non-readers alike, while guiding the eye to the important factors of any design. I can write and edit in nearly every format and style book, and I absolutely love what I do.

I have past experience designing book covers, promotional posters and banners, social media images, logos, brochures, infographics, calendars, e-newsletters, and more.

I can copy edit in five stylebooks at an experienced level: APA, AP, MLA, Chicago, and AMA. Thanks to this, I can edit in any style you would like (standard for books is Chicago, and I use this by default). I have over five years experience with copy editing, including a year and a half experience as a copy chief and a year at a publishing company....
