I specialize in pencil portrait art, and more specifically time period and costume portraiture. I am inspired by the way a fabric folds, the softness of hair, the clarity of eyes. These things draw me into a subjects world. I also treasure the history of objects, and capturing the tactile impressions of those things is something I strive to perfect. I have begun working on darker subjects using skeletal forms. I am also inspired by the Steampunk genre, and you will see more of that in my art. My work was exhibited at the RAW Artists Marvel Showcase in April 2013 in Scottsdale AZ and Translations in Tucson September 2013.

Colleen has been presenting, writing and providing art for Circle Sanctuary and Circle Magazine since 2002. More recently Colleen designed the PSG logos for 2010-2015. In addition, Colleen does private art instruction from her home for all ages, as well as art instruction for seniors in the Chicagoland area. Colleen does Mural Art; Body Art; Face Painting and Henna; Custom Tattoo Designs; Visionary Art; and Commissioned pieces manifest from the visions and dreams of her clients. Mystical Willow Productions is her company name. Her work pulls its symbolism, hidden images, flow and color patterns from her experiences and studies. Colleen describes each of her works as “Doorways to the Center”, through which she hopes the viewer will travel to seek that which is hidden deeper within the image, and possibly on their visual journey, find doorways of their own to mysteries hidden deeper within themselves. In her book illustrations for children, Colleen’s pieces give voice to the connection between the natural world and the magical realms, helping to reaffirm the magic which children still possess within.
