I am a professional, outgoing, and organized individual with experience in several fields, including administrative support, customer service, sales, and freelance services. I began my career over twenty years ago working in customer service as a hotel front desk agent. I worked for several different hotels and inns and it was during this time that my love of travel began. I attended college with a major in travel and tourism in order to expand my knowledge of the travel industry. I have held many different positions in the retail sales industry and have held several different positions within that industry. My position experiences in retail sales include sales assistant, store manager, and bridal registry manager. I truly enjoyed working with the customers, and also enjoyed managing the stores and working closely with customers and personnel alike. I learned to read plan-o-grams and reset merchandise. I took great pride in having one of the top stores in the district as far as sales goals and customer satisfaction. Although I was a great sales person, and did enjoy assisting customers in their choices, after several years I decided to switch career paths. I held my first office position when I began working for Signing America which is a sign company located in Florida that specializes in DOT signage, as well as basic generic signs such as stop signs, yield signs, street signs, etc. They also create custom signs and my position there consisted of assisting customers with their signing orders and writing up purchase orders. I worked very closely with both management and the warehouse staff and I would consider my position there as, sort of, the middle contact between the two. It was in this position too that I started working with payroll, AP/AR, staff scheduling, etc. I really enjoyed working with the people at Signing America and remained there for a little over a year. I went on maternity leave in May and had my daughter in July of ’98. I resigned my position with the sign shop in December of ’98 after deciding to be a stay at home mom for a few years. My second daughter and last child was born in December of ’99. The last position I held outside the home was as administrative support at Belk Department Store. I held the position of administrative assistant and my duties included staff scheduling for all store departments, payroll, assisting new hires, maintaining employee files, store inventory, etc. I enjoyed this position and after moving out of the area I began working virtually doing administrative projects. I began taking online courses at Kaplan University and entered a writing contest that they were having. The contest, an essay contest, had over 2500 entries and my essay came in second place. Along with winning a 500.00 prize I also regained my interest in writing again. I began adding writing to my virtual freelancing. I continue to work strictly virtually today. I have completed many different projects over the years including administrative tasks and some projects more on the creative side. I have worked in transcription, and article writing. I have designed resumes, designed websites, created several logos, and I design custom invitations for weddings and other special events, etc. Writing will always be my passion. I enjoy everything I cover whether it be a travel related article or something more journalistic, such as covering current events. In my spare time I continue to work on a novel that has been in the works for many years. Though I could certainly recite the entire story from beginning to end, simply from memory, I have not sat down and committed it to paper, but that is certainly a goal I intend to complete.
