Lisa M. Syverson holds a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and Illustration from The Maryland Institute College of Art. Lisa has worked as an illustrator and graphic designer during her professional career that spans more than 28 years. While attending MICA, she traveled to Turkey and discovered the beginnings of a lifelong passion for learning about other cultures, people, and indigenous art. Traveling extensively throughout the US and abroad has given Lisa invaluable insights and experiences that have influenced her professional, creative, and personal development. As an artist, Lisa’s lifelong dream has been to enhance and touch the lives of people around the world through her rich creativity and imaginative works of art. Her artwork expresses her insatiable love of people and travel, sharing their intriguing stories along with the colorful tapestry of patterns, symbols, color, and textures drawn from her experience. She teaches us to see, not just observe our life that we may take for granted. She has developed unique techniques in her art that provide brilliant color and depth - capturing the essence of their experience, and environments. Recently Lisa has begun to focus her artistic intention on health and healing. She is exploring how her art can enhance the health and well-being of all who come to experience and appreciate her work. She has a particular affinity with children and young adults, and enjoys teaching, nurturing their creativity through workshops and classes. Lisa looks to develop new projects and commissions which will allow her to express these new directions. Lisa’s work ranges from: children’s books, editorial and magazine, travel and destination, journals, educational literature and publications, marketing materials, advertising campaigns, packaging, annual reports and more. The business channels include children’s markets, wellness and healthcare, real estate, food and travel, entertainment, the outdoors, education, as well as the service and manufacturing industry. Select clients/projects include: “Close Your Eyes” children’s book (private commission), Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, The National American Red Cross, Chicago Botanic Gardens, Margot Arnand’s Kiss of Bliss products (France), LATI USA/Italy, Ben & Jerry’s, Ford Motor Company, After The Fall/Smuckers, Epiculinary, Lake Champlain Chocolates, Country Walkers, Harley-Davidson, Guideposts/Spirit Lead Woman Magazine, ChicagoSpeaks Magazine, KIDSVT Magazine, University of Illinois at Chicago, Volvo, IJCO: International Journal of Coaching in Organizations, Ski Racing International and more. I am a physically disabled 32 year old man that had brain surgery last year, and lost none of my cognitive abilities thankfully. Around the year 2005 I was married and moved to a smaller town in my home state Maine, the town of Norway. It is here that I applied and was accepted to the position of proofreader of the local newspaper "The Advertiser Democrat." I am 3 electives away from getting my B.A. in International studies from the University of Maine at Farmington. I am undergoing major life problems right now due to the brain surgery, which caused me severe emotional management problems. Prior to the job I held at The Advertiser Democrat, and since, as a matter of fact, I had problems holding jobs due to my epileptic seizures. My employers never liked the fact that I frequently fell and injured myself, which caused them three problems; customer alarm, bloody messes, and insurance costs increasing. I am looking to stop collecting disability and find a career, and proofreading is the only job that I have ever held and enjoyed. I can also proofread french, I speak and write it fluently. As part of my B.A. program I lived in France for six months, and returned with a letter from my professors saying that I was an excellent student and one of the best foreign exchange students that they had ever received. As a side-note, I graduated thirty-second in a class of over four hundred, and was received into the National Honor Society as a High School Sophomore. I continue my cognitive conditioning with books that I received while I was in the hospital after my brain surgery: books that are designed to heal the brain and I am just as intelligent as the day I went in for surgery. Another side note, my hourly rate is negotiable. Besides all of this, on another topic, when younger and still to this day, I am stronger even at mathematics than anything else. I can do long multiplication in my head, and have excellent math skills.

I have been a writer for well over a decade. I've never done any published works except some poetry when I was a kid, and have been writing for my own upstart professional wrestling website that is still in its infancy. I have been a radio DJ and audio engineer with seven years experience, I have an Associate's Degree in Media Communications, and have a vast interest in a variety of topics, I tend to be a bit opinionated and at times outspoken, but I am a natural debater, and always welcome the opportunity to defend any position of mine.
