I have an associate's degree in computer technology, completed in 2008 with 4.0 gpa. I read A LOT. I have an extensive knowledge of spelling, vocabulary, grammar and punctuation mostly based on the fact that I have read so much since I was a teenager. I am confident in my proofreading skills. I type 90- 120 wpm. I would feel comfortable proofreading an entire book and could do it fairly quickly as I am a quick reader, too.
