Personal profile I have over eight years experience working within the Entertainment Industry, starting my career as an actor studying at LAMDA, and then transitioning to design, studying at The Central School of Speech and Drama leading into four years working as a full time designer. My development to date has been faced paced and I adapt easily to whatever is presented my way, from running my own design company for three years straight from University to joining one of the leading brand agencies in London. I am passionate about my work and keen to drive new, innovative ideas to push the boundaries wherever suitable. I believe my depth of knowledge within an experiential environment, combined with my creative background and imagination; give me an edge when planning new projects giving me the ability to produce exciting and truly memorable work. Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide range of clients: British Heart Foundation, Dreamies Cat Treats, The London Ghost Festival, ScareCon, M&G Insurance and my most challenging client to date, my audience: The General Public! Employment (References on request) ARTHUR LONDON Advertising Company, Great Sutton Street, Farringdon. October 2009 – September 2011 Role: Junior Designer Projects/Brands: McMillan Cancer, Samaritans, M&G Insurance, Dreamies Cat Treats and British Heart Foundation. I joined Arthur London towards the end of 2009 as a Junior Designer within the Creative Team. Coming from a Theatre Design background it was a new challenge for me to enter an agency working with big brand names and dealing with clients on a daily basis working to tight deadlines. Over the two years, my role included designing all Internet branding and advertising for M@G Insurance, most notably working with ‘The RHS Chelsea Flower Show’ taking over Sloane Square Underground transforming the station into a field of flowers and gateways. In addition to this my other main focus was working to change the design of ‘Dreamies’ Cat Treats, creating a fun brand for cat owners to treat their pets. This opened up opportunities to produce campaigns that stretched beyond digital and I was able to create first hand customer experiences on the streets of London. MERLIN ENTERTAINMENTS Theme Park Design Company, Shepherds Bush. September 2008 – May 2011. Job Role: Freelance Designer: I started freelancing with Merlin Entertainments three years ago whilst still studying, taking charge of all concept designs for the Madame Tussuads Scream Brand. This was great experience working with the second largest entertainment company in the World, dealing with clients, budgeting and customer experience to the max! In 2011 I worked on all concept branding for new Scare Attractions for Thorpe Park Fright Nights and Blackpool Dungeons. Madame Tussuads London: Designs for New Scream Attractions. Madame Tussuads Hollywood: Concept Designs for Scream Brand. Madame Tussuads Berlin: Concept Designs for Scream Brand. Madame Tussuads Amsterdam: Designs for New Scream Attractions. Madame Tussuads Blackpool: Concept Designs for New Attractions. Thorpe Park Fright Nights: Concept Designs for new Scare Mazes for 2012 Halloween Season. London Dungeons: Designs for new Attractions 2010. TOM SPINDLER PRESENTS www.tomspindlerpresents.com Horror Experience Design Company October 2008 – July 2011 Job Role: Creator, Designer and Director. I started my own Experience Company towards the end of University, wanting to create an impact and a name for myself quickly within the industry I focused on creating intense scare experiences that had a no rule policy that really pushed the boundaries of fear! In three years I created five attractions that opened to the public, headlined ‘The London Ghost Festival’ and was nominated for two ScareCon Awards. Each attraction opened received rave reviews and ‘Asylum Hill’ was named ‘The Most Intense and Disturbing Attraction in the history of Scare Attractions’ by hauntedattractions.com Running my own attractions was a massive learning experience for me, Designing all Set and Costume, Lighting and Sound, Casting and Directing Actors (the largest cast being 22 actors) Set Construction and Dressing, Location Finding, Dealing with budgets and deadlines, Designing and Managing my website, Ticket Sales and Stage Management. Creating five attractions by myself and opening them in London, I truly experienced everything possible in staging large-scale events! I am a 26 year old father of 3. I work as a para educator in the emotionally disturbed class in an inner city school. Throughout my own tumultuous life I have learned a great deal about the world. Writing has been my sanctuary and later evolved into a canvas onto which I could illustrate the things I was feeling as well as create deep and vivid characters to play host to the many extraordinary people I have come across. I currently run a new blog that is focused on self awareness and overcoming the many challenges created by being neglected and abused. My mantra is "Butterflies Are Crazy" and I use it frequently to describe the way the world seeks to harness the power we possess and keep us filled with fear and self doubt. I believe we can overcome the litany of labels and statistics and spread love and awareness throughout our communities. I am inspired and creative and hard working, and I would love to bring a unique viewpoint to your work, and develop your stories into deep, rich fulfilling narratives.
