For example, the image of the house often reflects the institution of family. The structure of the narrative itself tends to reflect linear time. I explore, however, the breaks in this structure: the images of dark space, fragmented space, dissolutions of form. I show how the modern and postmodern are on the continuum of realism. I look at writings about architecture, such as those of Anthony Vidler, and literary criticism, as well as scientific theories of chaos. The first half of my dissertation explores realism to postmodernism and the second half particular spaces: the labyrinth, the eye, and the seasons, where I discuss the intersection of space and time in poetic language. Each chapter discusses a different author, starting with the modernist Natalia Ginzburg. I explore the prose of Natalia Ginzburg, Christa Wolf, Barbara Neuwirth, and the poetry of Paul Celan, Andrea Zanzotto, and Friederike Mayroeeker. I'm a full-time practicing and exhibiting artist from Kilkenny, Ireland. I work in traditional and digital mediums and particularly love to illustrate steampunk, fantasy, science fiction, character concepts and tattoos. I consider every piece whether personal or commissioned to be a chance to develop as an artist. I'm rather versatile and like to step outside my comfort zone.

My past employment is based primarily in Customer Service, Sales, Office Management and Data Entry; however I have recently become very interested in creative and fictional writing. A resume will be provided upon request. I have limited formal training in writing, however I believe training and school taught information does not greatly affect the creative process. Creativity is the heart and soul of fictional and short story writing; creativity and ideas cannot be taught, but comes from within. Grammar and structure is taught, but I feel that is why editors have jobs. I am a very creative person; constantly imagining new fictional story ideas, inventions and ways to improve the efficiency of processes. I gained some of these skills through being the office manager of a small account management firm.
