While my resume is being updated, I would like to provide you with a sufficient description of my experience and abilities. I am currently enrolled in South Louisiana Community College of Lafayette (SLCC), working to graduate in the Spring of 2013 with an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts and later transfer to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. While in pursuit of these degrees, I maintain employment at several companies: - I work as a board operater for Cumulus Broadcasting, primarily for stations KNEK, Magic 104.7 and KRRQ- Q95.5. - At SLCC, I work as an editor for our school’s literary magazine, Pangaea. We produce an edition once a year in the spring, working throughout the fall and spring semesters of each year. This past term, I was the Design & Layout Editor, resposible for the complete layout of the magazine from cover to cover, using Adobe’s Indesign. I am not an expert with the program but I am self taught and still learning. This upcoming term beginning fall 2012, I have been promoted to Managing Editor of the magazine. - Lastly, I am a member of the Army National Guard; currently serving as a Food Service Specialist. I am, however, in the process of changing my job to Broadcast Journalist which will train me to be a more than proficient writer. As hobbies, I like to write poetry, short stories, novels and songs. I have one piece of work [a poem]published and hope to get at least one of my novels published someday as well. I truly love to write and would like to get as many freelancing opportunities as possible. If you have anymore questions, I would most prefer that you reach me by my email, krhurst34@yahoo.com or here on this site.
