My sculpture explores the elemental, the alchemical, and the shifting and continuous transformation of matter. I am intrigued by the ways in which objects change as they are made and remade through various sculptural techniques. Although I have worked with several media, including wood and fire, my interest in casting- in bronze and aluminum- has allowed me to explore these processes of transformation. For example, in recent work I have taken artifacts from everyday, working class culture- work boots, work gloves- and cast them in bronze and aluminum; these pieces interrogate the invisible, ephemeral nature of work by casting artifacts that embody human labour. In all of my work, I am concerned with the effective and affective elements of unpredictability, chance, and change.

I've drawn cartoons since age 7 and have a clearly discernible style that fall easily within the parameters of wackiness and wit found in the most successful and enduring comic strips. I drew editorial cartoons on the order of 3-4 per week for my school newspaper and earned nationwide readership on the student media blog UWIRE's Election 2008 Blog. Also a prolific writer of short fiction and journalistic criticism with some education from Indiana University.
