I am a recent graduate of the University of the Arts with a BFA in Illustration. I'm new to the professional writing world but have been writing poems, essays and papers since high school. I have been proofreading since high school, as well. In my 44th year of life, I am working on the final draft of my book and hope to publish within the next year. My goal is to become more involved with writing, now that my children are older, and hope to transition to full time writing over the next decade, as I complete my Masters and move on to a writing/speaking career. I have been an assistant editor for a weekly publication in the past, as well as for a monthly newsletter. I also created a quarterly e-zine during my employment for a university. Please contact me for proofreading, writing small articles and poetry.

I specialize in many different languages and environments. My primary focus has been custom LAMP (PHP and Ruby mostly, CMS (WordPress, Drupal, Concrete5, DotNetNuke) and mobile development. (iOS (iPhone/iPad) and Android). All of which with a focus on the UX/UI/User Experience design. I’ve also worked in several projects with Java/J2EE, MS SQL Server/Oracle, and Web and Database server administration/setup. (Linux, OS X Server, Windows Server) I'm always pushing myself to learn new languages, technologies, and ways of thinking and handling situations. I love hearing "Well, we don't have a fix for this, or it can't be done". That is music to my ears, the challenge to find a solution to the possibly impossible. Specialties My top specialties are in PHP/Ruby, CMS, Mobile Apps, UX/user interface design, database, problem solving and flexibility. For problem solving, regardless the language or platform, I'm on it; especially if it's said that it cannot be done. I love a good challenge. My flexibility comes from working for start-ups before the dot-com bubble burst. This required being able to to wear many hats; it's now a part of my work character.

I've been drawing since I can remember, and will always rely on pens and pencils for the bulk of what I do. That being said, I also have done work with oil pastels, every kind of charcoal possible, spray paint, modeling clay, some wood carving, and I have been getting into tattooing lately. Using and blending colors is what I do best, and I am happy to collaborate on any work at any time. Learning new techniques and hearing new ideas keeps me going and creating...I get bored with most styles pretty quickly, so I like to change it up a lot :) All consultations and preliminary sketches are free. I think that the work should come first, fees are always negotiable

I am a retired engineer/naval officer/university lecturer/financial advisor. I am, and always have been, an avid reader - Plato to Steinbeck to Ludlum. I am astonished at the number of errors I find in books, magazines, advertisements, and so on. I reckon around nine out of ten books I read have errors. Now that I am retired, time is in abundance, and I would welcome the opportunity to proof read for enjoyment and to supplement my income.
