Brittany Cannino Objective: To become a professional comedy writer in places such as New York City’s own Saturday Night Live, or Chicago’s comedy club Second City. However, writing is essentially what I want to do so any genre besides comedy is also welcome. My job included tasks such as editing the scripts, formatting scripts, researching details that were needed to be visualized on the show, note taking on conference calls. I was also able to do some work with the animation department and design certain costumes for the cartoons. “Boxers or Briefs” Sketch Comedy Group Present Creater, Cast member, and Co-Head Writer for a local Sketch Comedy Group “Boxers or Briefs.” Have written upwards of 60 sketches, each around 8-10 minutes long. I write my own work and edit. I also cast the sketches and direct most of them. “Splintered” Short Film- 48 hour Film Project Head Writer for A 48 hour film project “Splintered,” a 7 minute short Dark Fantasy film. Education: Salem Academy (High School) 2004-2008 Located in Winston-Salem, NC. Biggest accomplishments while in High school: President of National Honor Society, Studied Latin for four years, two National Scholastic Art Awards. UNCG (College) 2009-Present I am a BA in Acting/Directing with a minor in Film and Television Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I am president and coach of a Improvisational Comedy club, going into its third semester. Skills: I have very good people skills and work well with all different people. I have a very good work ethic and I am also very flexible with hours. I have practiced writing and acting ever since I can remember. I enjoy what I do very very much so it never gets boring and I am willing to work as hard as possible to make my dreams come true. Like I said, I studied Latin and also Spanish for four years so my language skills are above average both for writing and speaking.

What is the psychology behind it? I argue by deconstructing the stereotype of the “strong black woman” and clinging to other black women for support, the black woman is able to regain her voice and dignity. I proved this trough close reading Naylor and Shange’s pieces of literature. I received an A in the course and was encouraged by my professor to submit my paper for publication. Grant and Proposal Writing (Upper Division): I learned the art of making and perfecting a grant specifically geared for non-profit groups. For my final project, I interviewed Colorado Springs local Julie Abel of Family Life Services, which is a residential community for single moms and their children designed to help families build a foundation for a new start in life. By working with her and understanding the psychology of these women better, I was able to craft a unique grant proposal that could be potentially beneficial to their organization.
