I am a senior Communications major and Marketing minor at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. I love to write and many people have told me I am very good at it. Since 2011, I have worked as a news reporter at the Indiana Statesman, which is the Indiana State University student collegiate newspaper. Through this position, I have written and published countless articles and worked myself up to News Editor. In 2009 at the start of my academic career at Indiana State University, I became the sixth place finalist for the Summer Essay Contest. In addition, I have written several other poems and children’s stories that I plan to publish within the next five years. My long term career goals after graduation include finding employment as a journalist to continue improving my writing skills. I was a volunteer at Catholic Charities of Terre Haute and worked as a genealogist assistant conducting extensive research for at least ten years. I am very active within my community, and I strongly believe in community service engagement and volunteerism. In fact within the past four years, I have written three published letters to the editor of the Tribune Star newspaper that have boldly expressed my opinion on community controversial issues. Topics that I have strengths and interests in are sustainability, education, genealogy, health and wellness, sociology, career exploration, history, and the fulfillment of equal rights and the removal of all predjucies in our society today.
