Since early childhood, he was tutored on how to put paint to canvas. It was his father who fueled his fascination with all aspects of the Arts. When he reached his adolescent years, one of Peter’s early influences was Thomas P. Gill, an American comic book artist, best known for his nearly 11-year run drawings of The Lone Ranger. Peter does still prefer the very much loved labor of the pen stroke, the use of dark and light for creating the illusion of depth on the flat surface of the paper and the following satisfaction upon completion. Along the way, he has built upon the visual language comics artists have been developing for more than a century. Wham! Bam! Pow! Artists draw on their predecessors in ways that make each work a very personal history of art. They build on the works of the past, either inspired by or reacting against them, but always challenging them with their new creations. Peter Melonas has established a lengthy and varied artistic career. He has been a professional silk screen artist, illustrator, and graphic designer for over 35 years, beginning in 1978. He specializes in multimedia production by creating images of characters represented within the mainstream of pop culture. This commercial artist's popularity began with creating an imagery of characters from the mystery genre. Time after time, his name comes up quite often in search of a particular detective wearing a deerstalker cap.He has participated in Wizard World Comic Cons and exhibited his collectibles of heroes & icons at numerous art show events.

Online resume' at (https://www.resumerepublic.com/ki22941hu) I am a graphic illustrator/cartoonist living in Richmond Virginia. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelors degree in communication arts, with a focus on drawing, painting, sequential imaging, and digital arts. My primary platforms are usually pen and paper, taken into most if not all of the Adobe software editing suites such as Photoshop, Illustrator, indesign etc. I have done many label designs via school project or commission based, to which I use those same suites to clean them up, and ultimately present. In my schooling, I have also had experimentation in many CGI and 3D editing suites such as After Effects, and am very comfortable in a computer setting. My passion is conceptual design, for I am a very emotional person and feel that conceptual imaging or storyboard making encapsulate the overall theme and feeling of the idea, but through schooling and vigorous self training I have learned to take those concepts, refine them, and present them in the cleanest most elegant way possible. My portfolio consists of a wide variety of conceptual sketching from my own narratives, still life's, caricatures of people that have come and go, and life's little things that inspire me the most.
