Photographer - Ben Rheaves My first experience with photography all started when I was in high school. It was at a skill center, were I was taking a visual communication program that offered photography as one of the courses. This was back in film and darkroom days. Digital cameras were just becoming popular and the ideal of a digital SLR camera was out of the question. It was in this class where I discovered my love for photography. It was something about seeing a picture in my head, then taking that picture with my camera and capturing that moment forever. I really enjoyed the process from start to finish. Especially, back then with the film and darkroom development process. After school (and that course) I kind of lost touch with photography and directed my focus to computers. Computers were the BIG thing during that time. (Fast forward...) In 2005, I received a Nikon N55 SLR (film again...) for Christmas. The spark was lite once again for photography. So I took pictures for friends and family. Everyone loved the pictures and told me I should think about doing it as a business. I thought about it but never really gave it any serious attention. Besides the cost and time involved with processing film had risen since everything had went digital. So, I would have to get a digital SLR (DSLR). A few years passed and I purchased my first DSLR, a Nikon D70. I was in love! As a result of having new equipment, I took more pictures and more people wanted me to take pictures for them. This is when I asked myself, "Why not make photography a business? I am taking lots of pictures for people anyway." So in 2008, I started Contour Photography and have been evolving as a better photographer and company every since.
