I’ve worked as a graphic designer for the past 6 years, with expertise in information design, branding, marketing and more recently, environmental graphics. I currently work in-house as the sole graphic designer for an international architecture practice. This involves managing all graphical output across 8 offices, including London, Singapore, Moscow and New York. As a support role within the marketing team, I provide design for all documents and brochures, posters and invites for both internal and external events, exhibition boards, presentations, web banners and logos, amongst many other ad-hoc requirements. I also provide design services for external clients such as Crest Nicholson and Berkeley Homes. Despite the fact that graphical support is my primary role, soon after joining the practice, I initiated a company-wide rebrand. This involved creating new brand guidelines, which introduced a new typeface, colour palette and a suite of templates for complex documents, which was supported enthusiastically by the Board. Working in–house has definitely been an advantage when visually rebranding, as I act as the designer and the client, allowing me to see the efficiency of the design first hand. More recently I recognised wayfinding and signage as an important element missing from the company. Although I had minimal previous experience, I successfully promoted and launched this as a new niche sector in the company. Since then, I have overseen the environmental graphic design of numerous projects including five education projects and the new Cisco Systems offices based in Paris.
