Summary Writing is not just something I do, it is something I AM—a Writer. I take pride in any piece I create or evaluate to become the best editor or writer to my abilities. Carefully review my credentials, I am willing to learn whatever is needed to be taught just to follow my dreams. Experience Dollar General December 2009-August 2010 This being my first job, I was responsible for main cashier duties and cleaning. I learned a lot of customer service references and how to work my way up from the bottom to the top of management. I decided to decline the manager position to attend college a few months before my acceptance into Huston-Tillotson University. Huston-Tillotson University August 2010-May 2014 In August of 2010, I began working as a student aid at Huston-Tillotson. There, I planned events—such as lectures, campus tours and concerts, and Greek life.. I did this until 2012, when I moved to a Resident Assistant in the Women’s Dormitory. As an RA, I managed an entire floor alone that was resided with first year students. My theme for the young ladies until I graduated was “Self Confidence,” where I periodically planned many mentor programs and events to help the young ladies value theirselves in more ways than one. Tate Publication June 2012-Now In June of 2012, I signed a contract with CEO Richard Tate, founder of Tate Publications, to release my book to the company for distribution and sales. The book is entitled, “A Soul Under God Cannot Be Destroyed,” which is an autobiography. The sequel to the book, “Like a Diamond in Black Oil,” is currently being finalized Education Leander High School 2006-2010 In 2010, I graduated top of my class under the Texas Scholars’ program with a GPA of 3.2. Huston-Tillotson University August 2010-May 2014 I am a recent graduate of Huston-Tillotson University, where I studied English and Professional Writing and received a minor in Secondary Education. On the campus, I was fluently involved in Greek Life, Student Activities, and mentor and community service projects. I graduated top of the English Department with a GPA of 3.0. Texas State University August 2014- May 2016 I will be studying at Texas State University, online, to receive an MA in Technical Communications. Publications “900 Chicon” Recently, I was published on the front of “900 Chicon,” a literary magazine published by Huston-Tillotson’s English Department. The magazine is locally known throughout the East Austin Area and HT’s community where this year we tackled the theme of “Keeping East Austin.” Other than being featured in the magazine, I also served as lead editor to make sure the submissions from students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community leaders were precise and correct for this year’s theme. My full name is Ramon Santiago Cartagena from the Philippines, I graduated from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 1992 with a Bachelors' Degree in Journalism, after which I started work at Adamson University as a Staff writer for the Vincere, Adamson University's Official Newsletter on November of the same year. During my stay at Adamson University I was appointed to other offices including the Office for Pastoral Affairs wherein I functioned as the Secretary to the Vice-President for Pastoral Affairs. It was also during this time that I was assigned a teaching position at the English Department and the Social Sciences Department of the same University, It was here that I was given English Languages subjects and Philippine as well as Asian and American History and Literature subjects. I was later transferred to the Publications Office where I functioned as Staff writer and Sports Editor for the Adamson Newsletter. This was my last post in the University after which I was later terminated but was later settled amicably with me receiving my separation pay and with full benefits Presently I have my own business doing freelance writing. I am currently seeking a more stable position wherein I can give my services and hopefully help contribute in expanding your business as well as help me to further enhance my writing skills.
