I have been involved in visual arts since early childhood. I have experience with new and revised construction of properties and homes, as well as the use of many materials and surfaces. I have 3 years of Art College and an associate in illustration. As a father of three my time and availability has changed. I have been running my business “Mobile Murals" for seven years. I have catered to the city of Wilmington in Delaware on many occasions, fulfilling many art needs from art restorations to mural concepts. I have literally created hundreds of murals and pieces of art for homes, businesses, autos, books, stage props, shows, sculptures... I’m currently affiliated with a custom motorcycle shop, airbrushing custom graphics. I love creating art that makes people respond with, "that is more than I would have expected it to be." I would like to one day pass my knowledge on to others. My knowledge of life, errors and corrections as well as the road to becoming a successful artist, which I am still trying to achieve. Since over coming cancer, my perspective has stretched beyond the end of my brush. "Can I save the world with the stroke of my brush?" all I can do is try....

I am 22 years old and live in Paarl, South Africa. I attended Paarl Girls High School and matriculated in 2006. After school I studied Graphic Design at Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography. During these three years I completed subjects such as Art History, Marketing, Illustration, Drawing, Computer Practise and Photography. In my third year I chose to major in Graphic Design. At the end of 2009 I graduated with a BA degree in Applied Design. In 2010 I started a new course, Web Development, at CTU Training Solutions in Stellenbosch and obtained my Graphic Design & Introduction to Web Development certificate. I'm a very social person, love to meet new people, and always up for a challenge. I'm fascinated with architecture and love to look at packaging designs. My favorite design projects are ones that involve creating corporate identities, packaging design, cd covers, brochure & magazine designs etc. I'm well trained in the Adobe CS5 programmes that includes; Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Fireworks and Dreamweaver. I would love to be able to travel and work as a graphic designer - it would be an awesome way to learn and gain experience. I've just travelled to Europe and enjoyed it so much, would love to be able to find work there. My first language is Afrikaans, but I'm also fluent in English.

Award-winning journalist with 10-years experiences as a paid writer and a flair for all kinds of writing. I write for a daily newspaper, a blog and a website. I also have extensive editing experience. 2008 – Current Education Reporter Sarasota Herald-Tribune As the Herald-Tribune’s sole education reporter, covered two school districts and several higher education institutions, frequently putting education on the front page with compelling regional stories and in-depth investigative pieces that made schools safer and led to changes in district policy. My stories: - Exposed how problematic substitute teachers were banned by some schools but were still working at others where principals were unaware of their disciplinary history. - Revealed that after creating a legal department with two attorneys and legal assistants, Manatee County School District still spent more than $100,000 per year for five years on outside attorneys. - Uncovered that the technical school director continued running the school during her one-month “retirement,” which enabled her to get retirement benefits before being rehired as a double-dipper. 2005 – 2008 General Assignment Reporter Sarasota Herald-Tribune Led the Herald-Tribune’s coverage of North Manatee during the real-estate boom, telling the stories of newcomers and long-time residents whose once-rural community was changing beyond recognition. Unearthed stories like the local chosen to build the show-jumping obstacles for the Beijing Olympics, and a woman entered in a contest to train a Nevadan wild mustang in 13 weeks. Produced numerous front-page stories from a micro-local beat while consistently scooping the competition on its home turf. 2002 – 2005 Reporter/Editor-in-Chief The Oracle, University of South Florida Elected Editor-in-Chief by staff at The Oracle. My story on struggling artists for a USF multi-media class was published in The Tampa Tribune and on TBO.com and broadcast on WFLA. 1993 – 2001 Analyst-programmer Citibank/IBM/National Westminster Bank, London In England, worked as a successful COBOL analyst- programmer for several major corporations developing and enhancing computer systems used to process deals and transactions that daily totaled millions of dollars. Education 2002–2005 University of South Florida B.A., magna *** laude in journalism 1982–1984 London College of Printing BTEC National Diploma, business and communications Honors and Awards - Florida Society of Newspaper Editors 2012 second place for beat reporting - Garner Rose O’Brien Halderman Endowed Scholarship for outstanding journalism students (two-time recipient) - Samuel Y.
