Until recently (about two years ago) I wrote for pleasure, but redundancy forced me into evaluating my career options and I decided that I would like to make the move in to writing professionally. Just over a year ago I started writing a blog; I started by posting some of my own short stories and updates on various other projects that I am working on - my three nascent novels, and a non-fiction booklet about several influential Anglo-Saxon women. Recently I have started reviewing books, albums and concerts. I have always had a keen eye for detail, spelling and grammar, which is useful for me but I never thought anyone else would be interested in my skills. That was until I was asked to edit some short stories for friends. I actually rather enjoy it.

I'm a graduate student seeking a flexible way to support the rest of my education. For the last seven years I have worked in a bookstore feeding my addiction to reading, but completely neglecting my passion for writing. In the bookstore I was responsible for the children's department. I'm very familiar with children's literature. I've often helped friends edit their papers on a variety of topics, I've edited their resumes. I also have through the years been a sounding board for various creative writing projects while working on my own writing. I've taken classes in many fields. I'm capable of learning a style of writing quickly and am able to edit or write original material in that style. Among my personal favorite authors are Jane Austen, Edgar Rice Burroughs, George Sand, Mo Willems and P.G. Wodehouse. I also have taken courses in Photoshop, Graphic Design and drawing. I'm very creative and when I get involved with a project I become completely absorbed.
