My artwork reflects the current news events which usually derive from different media sources such as radio, television and social issues. I would like to compare myself to an observer documenting intimate stories of my present environment. I am drawn to these stories, because they evoke the true sense of human struggles in a complicated world. I would like to make art that appeal to the viewer...

July 2010 - Present The Gorman-Rupp Co. Programmer/Analyst Development and management of .NET applications with SQL for Syteline ERP, TDCI BuyDesign Configurator products, and data acquisition for engineering and test lab testing stations. Support and development for Pacejet shipping system and integration with Syteline. Development of mobile applications to enable iOS mobile devices access to Syteline ERP data in the field. September 2008 - June 2010 CenturyLink (formerly Sprint LTD, Embarq) Project Manager/Analyst Involved in management of various initiatives related to call center quality, workflow management, metrics reporting, and efficiency. Developed hybrid workflow management system called E-Traq in VB.NET which created working queues handling intake of order activity from the mainframes and tracking all agent activity. In addition this system provided Proactive Statusing of service orders as well as a fenced, sockets-based instant-messaging server/client and stealthy live-video monitoring of agent workstations by managers and coaches. The application is a system utilizing MS SQL Server as its backend. Original MySQL server was initially deployed, then a subsequent migration to MS SQL Server was performed when server-space was made available for E-Traq at a corporate SQL server farm in Kansas City, KS. Conducted in-classroom training for agents and managers for various systems and initiatives. Co-manager of outsourcing initiative between CenturyLink (then Embarq) and First Source of Bangalore, India. Major Systems developed for Embarq/CenturyLink E-Traq E-Traq is a ticketing, tracking, and workflow management system developed in VB.NET utilizing MS SQL Server as its database backend to manage the flow and tracking of service order activity by call center agents in what was then known as Embarq. E-Traq includes several working queues which take in work from order activity generated on mainframes, making available for agents to pull and work. All work units are footprinted from intake to resolution for future reporting. In addition, user login/logout logs were used as an adjunct for WFM (Work-Force Management) personnel in monitoring agents in an Intraday function. Proactive Statusing enabled physical monitoring of a service order until physical completion by a technician. Call Tracker provided a means for issuing support tickets and tracking for DSL Implementation issues, coach-queue calls, and national Save Desk activities. Several external supporting applications were developed in C# to provide fenced instant messaging and file transfer, agent monitoring via live on-demand video via stealth, and time-studies. The philosophy behind the development of E-Traq was the need for a single, unified platform for all intake, processing, and reporting of work throughout the enterprise. Also developed various web interfaces to E-Traq’s data via ASP on the company’s intranet websites enabling users to interact with E-Traq without having the application or .NET framework installed on their workstations. Perry was raised within the rural communities of Somerset, Gloucestershire and later Canada, where he completed his secondary education. From an early age Perry exhibited a talent for illustration. Always with a pencil and paper in hand, he could be found either sketching the animals on the farm or copying the many photos of his father in far flung corners of the world whilst he served in the Light Infantry. So it was a surprise to his family that upon leaving secondary school he chose not Art College, but to follow in his fathers and brothers footsteps and returned to England to enlist in the Forces. Perry served for seven years with the Royal Green Jackets, but for a burgeoning artist, this wasn’t time wasted. His design talent was quickly recognised by his colleagues and he was soon accepting commissions for fantasy illustrations, Regimental T-Shirt designs and family portraits. On the completion of his ‘Colour Service’ Perry had a variety of jobs, but still maintained his artistic skills by securing regular private commissions. With this ever growing customer base and a confidence in his artistic ability, Perry established a small crafts company in Kent. It was whilst running Cantii Crafts that Perry discovered a raw talent for sculpture. Wanting to increase his knowledge and with a hankering for the West Country, Perry return to Somerset and enrolled in a fulltime Diploma course at STRODE College to study Art and Design . From 2001 Perry has studied Community Education as a Post Graduate at DeMontfort University, which assisted him to delivered short courses on sculpture for Somerset Adult Learning and Leisure, alongside of art workshops for the District Council, local community groups and charities. He has accepted both private and public commissions; one being ‘The Return’ a stylised swan that now resides in Castle Cary’s Horse Pond. His recent work includes a collection of “Classical” figures in modern materials and contemporary styles, alongside a set of limited edition statuettes that celebrate the formation of “The Rifles” Regiment. Perry is a member of the Army Arts Society and lives with his wife and two children in Queen Camel, where he can be found experimenting with a range of mediums and materials to create new exciting pieces, although he is never too busy to consider commissions. Abilities Experienced in the use of resins, plasters, cements, and ceramics. Visualise and create original images and sculptures. Produce finished design from customer consultation. Able to produce simple and complex moulds from life or carved originals. Experienced in the casting of a wide range of mediums. Confident to communicate at all levels. WORK EXPERIENCE: October 2010 – present - EDITORIAL ASSISTANT Viva Publishing – The company published three magazines; two regional and a national magazine. The position required me to consistently work to deadlines and under pressure, liaising with companies, event organisers and stockists. As assistant to two editors, I was responsible for chasing copy and images that they or freelance writers required as well as constructing and writing my own pages. For most of the regional issues, I wrote over half of the editorial. I was lucky enough to do interviews with renowned sportsmen and business providers and enjoyed attending the launch of new restaurants to conduct reviews. I also relished the opportunity of writing my own column in each issue. I have had to establish a great discipline and organisation of my talents to ensure that everything is completed on time to the highest possible standard.. Contracted from APRIL 2010 – JULY 2010 – RESEARCH ASSISTANT University of Worcester - This position involved a lot of independent working and organising of my work schedule. I was involved with the production of three reports concerning maternal and newborn care, safeguarding children and children’s health. I was appointed leader of the curriculum assessments and had to use my time as efficiently and productively as possible as the writing of the reports was dependent on my findings. I created tables on Word, formatted documents, and used spreadsheets. The position ended when the reports were published. OCTOBER 2009 – JANUARY 2010 – SALES AND MARKETING EXECUTIVE Find-a-Directory Limited - This temporary three month position consisted of generating and maintaining sales through to completion. A friendly manner was necessary at all times, as well as an ability to create a personal rapport with the customer and to ensure that they were treated as an individual. It was my role to work with consumers to get the best deal for their nursing home company from an advertising perspective. I therefore used cold calling in business to business sales. I also prepared a presentation and had to pitch in front of the managing director, the sales manager and one of my colleagues in order to help them decide which venture the company should next pursue. JULY 13TH – AUGUST 12TH 2009 – SALES ASSISTANT JoJo Maman Bebe - This temporary position consisted of greeting the public and then helping them to find the most suitable products for their babies. It required knowledge of child development and to approach customers in a confident manner. I believe it helped to develop my interaction skills as I was faced with a wide variety of consumers. JUNE 2007-2008 – SALES CONSULTANT/ ASSISTANT Tempest Photography – During summer graduations, I worked as a sales consultant for a large photography company. This involved greeting customers at Manchester University’s Graduation, providing information on costs and sales packages, dealing with difficult customers, and helping to run the photographic sessions over a two week period, with approximately 8000 graduates. MAY 2008 and March 2010 – TRAINEE JOURNALIST The Sentinel, Stoke-on-Trent and the Worcester News, Worcester. These two one-week work experience placements involved attending local political meetings, court sentencings and taking notes which were later used by other journalists for their stories. Several articles were written which required ringing local people to discover information on various events and stories. A restaurant review was also constructed. JULY 2004 – JANUARY 2007 – CASHIER Sainsbury’s, Stoke-on-Trent - To aid the smooth running of the establishment within a team; the role included cash handling, customer service experience, and occasionally involved stock rotation and management. ACHIEVEMENTS AND AWARDS Awarded Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship for Academic Excellence BST Level One Award in Sports Leadership Distinction in Catholic Studies INTERESTS Enjoys sporting activities such as horse riding, dog walking, and trampolining and was part of both the Equestrian and Trampolining teams at Keele University. Relaxes by reading various literary genres. REFEREES – available on request Covering Letter Having desired to become a journalist and work in the media from a young age, I believe that the experience I have gained over numerous years has helped shape me into an ambitious and conscientious individual who is driven and determined to succeed. During secondary school, I worked on a local youth paper called The Whisper which involved discovering news stories within my home region and writing them up for publishing. In May 2008, I had a week’s work experience placement at my local newspaper, The Sentinel. This involved attending local political meetings and court sentencings where I took notes which were later used by other journalists for their stories. Several news articles were written and published which required ringing people to discover information on various events and stories. A restaurant review was also conducted. More recently, in August 2009, I wrote articles for Eclipse media and Canny Minds, both of which were published on their websites. In October 2009, I transcribed sound-bites and edited them for the website, cmypitch.com. Forty sound-bites were transcribed and then edited to ensure the quote flowed and read legibly to the reader. My position at Viva Publishing is a challenge that I relish and I enjoy every minute of my time with the company. It cemented in my mind that this is definitely the industry I wish to work in and I believe my enthusiasm and passion while in post has reflected this. I was lucky enough to do interviews with renowned sportsmen and business providers and enjoyed attending the launch of new restaurants to conduct reviews. I also gained the opportunity to write my own column in each issue. I believe this displays that I am a committed and responsible individual who is dedicated to her work and career as also acknowledged by Keele University in their offering of the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship for Academic Excellence to myself. I am used to preparing for deadlines and am extremely organised. My previous employment has provided me with the vital skills of being an effective communicator and allowing me to become a competent and confident member of a team who can contribute to any situation.
