To quote Annie, "it's a hard-knock life," especially for a budding fine artists. You want to get your work out there for men in "Midnight Onyx"-colored suits and sweet handlebar moustaches, but they have business to attend to, companies to run, and moustaches to wax. Meanwhile, your family is wearing burlap sacks and speaking with cockney dialects while you're desperately trying to come up with...

For example, the image of the house often reflects the institution of family. The structure of the narrative itself tends to reflect linear time. I explore, however, the breaks in this structure: the images of dark space, fragmented space, dissolutions of form. I show how the modern and postmodern are on the continuum of realism. I look at writings about architecture, such as those of Anthony Vidler, and literary criticism, as well as scientific theories of chaos. The first half of my dissertation explores realism to postmodernism and the second half particular spaces: the labyrinth, the eye, and the seasons, where I discuss the intersection of space and time in poetic language. Each chapter discusses a different author, starting with the modernist Natalia Ginzburg. I explore the prose of Natalia Ginzburg, Christa Wolf, Barbara Neuwirth, and the poetry of Paul Celan, Andrea Zanzotto, and Friederike Mayroeeker. A BA in Classics and another in Education provided me with a full and varied background with which to become the Foreign Rights' Sale Manager at a Canadian Children's Publishing company. Bulk mailing through Constant Contact allowed me to create newsletters, sales sheets and invitations to conferences. As the company was small though, we all took on other positions and I began to take on: advance reading of submission, editing chosen manuscripts and writing my own children's picture books for specific in-house series.
