Jessica Becker is a self-taught artist from Atlantic Beach, FL and currently living in Orlando, FL. She was voted "Best Local Visual Artist" and "Best Local Public Art" for her mural at restaurant TacoLu in FOLIOWEEKLY'S Best of Jax 2017 Magazine. She was also voted “#1 Artist in 904” in VOID Magazine 2017, 2016 and 2013 Issue. She knew at the age of five that she wanted to be an artist and taught herself to paint after receiving minimal art classes in school. She started painting in 2004 and paints in many styles as well as many sizes on different surfaces. Her murals are freehand painted by brush. One of her biggest mural is on the side of the 3-story restaurant TacoLu (1712 Beach Blvd) in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The mural was freehand painted with brush of Dia de los Muertos Virgen de Guadalupe and took 224 hours/35 days to complete. She has also painted many murals inside TacoLu, in their Milagro Room, Casa Noble Room, window murals, and Women/Mens Restroom (bar side). She started painting food trucks in 2012 and her artwork can be seen on the food trucks “Chew Chew”, “Eat Here Now”, and "Eddis & Sons" located in Jacksonville, FL. She also has murals in Miami, FL at the popular club SHOTS (311 NW 23rd St)in the Wynwood Area and participated in Art Basel 2014 in Miami, FL by painting a mural at the bar Brick (187 NW 28th St) on the Wynwood Art District strip. Her other passion is painting 3D canvases where she adds materials to the portraits she paints. She has a degree in Cosmetology and uses that skill to get the hair to match the portraits perfectly on the canvas. The rest of her process is learned through trial and error which she uses different elements to make the pieces look realistic. She has a variety of paint styles and challenges herself through each project she is faced with to make it more unique than the last and to give the impression of something never seen before. You’ll never get bored with her work.
