My professional history: 1981 – 1989: A free-lance journalist contributing to the Boston Globe, Albuquerque Journal, L.A. Weekly, L.A. Reader, Hispanic Monitor and others. 1989 – present: Editor-in-chief of RER (Rental Equipment Register), a magazine and website covering the equipment rental industry. I began as managing editor in 1989, and became editor in chief in 1994. RER, founded in 1957, covers the construction equipment rental industry, now a nearly $40 billion annual industry. My duties every month include deciding the editorial content of the magazine and the website, writing much of the content and directing the editorial staff, working closely with our art director, and proofreading everything. We put out three electronic newsletters per week and post content on our website almost daily. We have won awards such as Neal Awards, Maggie Awards and ASBPE Awards and I have spoken to industry groups in the United States, Canada, Mexico, El Salvador, Russia and others.
