I am a student, a mother, a thinker & a writer (hopefully). My college studies have focused on English and communications, but my writing background extends much further into my youth. As long as I can remember, I've been writing SOMEthing. My education has helped me build a foundation, but my tone (my "voice") is all my own. I like to incorporate my fresh perspective into blog or editorial writing as well as bits of fiction; however, I am also trained in technical and media writing. Also, I have a little bit of experience-- but a great deal of interest-- in copy writing.

If YOU have a creative mind, I want to work with you! I know that you have been overwhelmed by applicants. This always happens. I'd love for you to please take a peek at my portfolio and then ask me to provide a drawing/writing sample specific to your needs. This is how we will know if we are a match for each other. I promise to be quick on my feet and respectful of the process if you will join me. I am always appreciative of people who send me a quick note to let me know where I stand, because then I know how to proceed. My chief profession is as a landscape architect, but I write and illustrate on a part time basis and am always looking for engaging freelance work. I have published articles in Horticulture, Vermont, Southern Vermont Arts and Living, and Stratton magazines. Here are a couple of non-fiction samples, one about downy mildew (http://www.jmmds.com/2011/09/reviving-rudbeckia-a-case-study-of-downy-mildew/) and another about heirloom chickens (http://vermontartsliving.com/?p=1291). Please ask for additional writing samples. I write in a range of styles and voices. I am well versed in illustration and graphic design and seek out projects with other creative individuals. I do realistic renderings and technical drawings on a day-to-day basis for my regular work, but love to delve into the whimsical world of free-form design where anything is possible! Please check out my website of images at http://andromedadesigns.com/art-and-illustration.html. I can draw whatever you want. I have removed the post for my normal hourly rate. I think that it would serve us better to find out your intended range and then create a proposal based on your needs. Most of the time freelance writing will be billed per word and art on a per project basis. Illustration is billed by the drawing. Other work may be billed by the hour and a mutually agreed price.

I am an artist, an illustrator, a graphic designer, a painter, and a digital manipulator. I started my career as a actor, but found a passion in scenic painting. I worked for three years painting magnificent scenes on 30-foot by 50-foot drops for Tri-Cities Opera before pursuing my destiny, going to college for theatrical design. The interesting thing about destiny is how it keeps being a destination that changes. After receiving my Bachelors of Fine Art from SUNY Fredonia, I worked for 5 years, intensively, as a designer. I focused on creating cohesive, intensively considered illustrations or rendering, then creating that image on stage. My work led me to travel throughout the United States, even to a position as adjunct professor and resident designer at Wells College, before I destiny called me to pursue it again. I left my life with only what would fit in a car and began to travel without a destination, except destiny. Destiny led me this time through adventures and tedium, inspiration and blankness, to Seattle, Washington and a life of living on the raggedy edge as a freelance artist. I have written and illustrated children's books with Zigzag Stories, designed a cover for Spinward Expanse, created commission paintings, drawn caricatures, created event posters, and designed logos. Destiny recently led me back to upstate New York. I am showing my acrylic painting collections: "Extra Artist on the set of Fat Kid Rules the World" and "Affair with the World." While staying inspired, creating new connections, and finding destiny with the projects that people like you propose to me. If you want something visual created: I can do it. I can do it fast. I can do it professionally.
