I paint portraits of ordinary people doing everyday things at interesting places. My strongly edited realistic images of the world reflect the emotions and humor of life's interactions. Bold contrasts and the limited palette of my paintings, draws you in with their brightness and color. Often with a touch of Edward Hopper, Andrew Wyeth, or David Arsenault, their compelling sense of...

I am an independent freelance translator specializing in gaming, IT and web-content domains. Gaming is one of my specialties since my work experience covers a couple of areas of the industry: game development, game-specific business and game localization. I also have experienced several genres such as MMORPG, mobile games, online board game and mobile console games as a game developer so I believe that I am so familiar with the general procedure of game development, even though each company chooses a unique process for its projects. Regarding game localization, I have worked as not only a translator but also as a project manager for a meaningful period of time, and this helps me grasp what most localization coordinators / agencies dealing with game contents want. > Language pairs that I cover: EN to KO, JP to KO > LinkedIn: nz.linkedin.com/pub/tobey-kim/83/a26/162/

My projects vary from traditional print design like brochures and postcards, to trade show materials like displays and signage, and to new media projects like e-newsletters and web banners. Some clients view me as their marketing department; others use my work to give their in-house designers a starting point. I’ve been designing as a freelance creative since 1995, primarily working with associations and the businesses that market through associations. I have a passion for the association world…I see great marketing opportunities in the natural networking structure of associations. The recurring events, educational sessions, committee activities…these create a burbling spring of energy that can launch businesses and careers. This synergy is exciting, and I like to promote and extend it. Because I work as an outsider with these organizations, I have the cat-bird seat to see new strategies and ideas. I also provide institutional memory for my clients…staff may turn over, but I can provide the continuity of file archives and experience that keeps marketing moving forwards, not looping redundantly. My background is unusual compared to most of my graphic design peers. Prior to my design work, I was a sales and marketing executive in the hotel industry. I made sales calls, worked trade shows, wrote marketing plans, developed budgets, trained sales staff and bought advertising. My primary market segments were association events and corporate accounts. With this experience in my rear-view mirror, I’m a very practical designer.

For now I am just putting my name in the freelance writing hat and seeing what all is out here. I am currently working on a few short story projects. I am working on one project for my nieces and nephews so it is geared towards adolescents. My short story project called The Dark Nine which I have posted in my portfolio is a dark vigilante type story that has room to become a series. I have always enjoyed creative writing and would like to gradually transition into someone who writes professionally and not just for pleasure.

I am an adaptive and creative lover of words whose always fancied himself a wordsmith. With this passion in mind, I went to college and finished my undergraduate years with a B.A. in English. Throughout my life I've made use of my word-focus to explore various forms of creative writing with a heavier emphasis in poetry. Additionally, I've functioned as a writing tutor during my undergraduate years to further polish and enhance my own writing as well as that of others.
