Documentary short My Identity – 2013 to 2015 – Cinematographer – The story of how race, religion, and the foster care experience can shape one's identity. Four Days in Chicago - 2012 – Videographer – When Director/Cinematographer Haskell Wexler (Medium Cool, 1969) wanted to cover the post-Occupy protests around the 2012 NATO summit, he recruited me and several others as his stringers. Feature documentary Workers’ Republic – 2010 – Writer and Director - My mostly solo 60-minute doc film about the 2008 occupation of Chicago factory Republic Windows and Doors. It played in seven festivals, countless community meetings, and won the John Michaels Human Rights Film Award. Personally shot about 95% of it. Immigrant Nation! The Battle For the Dream – 2010 – Videographer - Feature documentary film that ran on PBS nationally, about the modern immigrant rights movement, telling the story of the struggle of Elvira Arellano, a single mother in Chicago, who fought her deportation. I lit and taped the formal interviews used in the piece and a great deal of b-roll. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE Freelance Videographer – 2012 to present – DP/Videographer/Gaffer/Editor – Various corporate productions, TV, and short film. Clients include Century21, LemonLight Media, National Safety Council, and independent producers. North Park University – 2013-present – Technical Instructor – I taught students in Video Production (1 and 2) and Multimedia Journalism, focusing on the technical details of filming and editing, as well as how to visually tell compelling stories. Pedal America – 2011 to 2012 – Videographer- In this 10-week production of a PBS show’s first season, I served as one of only two videographers. I performed every role from shooting multiple takes of scripted scenes to "b-roll" photography, including shot selection collaboration.
