I am a dreamer and a thinker, an artist and an inventor. I come up with crazy ideas that I then passionately strive to make a reality. I graduated from UC Irvine in 2011 with a degree in studio art. There I expanded my skills to include everything I could: drawing, painting, photography, digital graphic art, video, performance art, sculpture, and electronics. While at school, I worked for the Campus Recreation marketing team as a professional graphic designer for 2+ years.

I am a creator of comic books and graphic narratives, and well as drawings, paintings, prose stories and essays. My educational background includes an MFA in Cartooning from The Center for Cartoon Studies and a BA in Studio Art from Denison University. Recently, I drew a graphic narrative about the lore and biology of the fisher--a feisty weasel found in the Vermont woods--from a script by comics icon Steve Bissette. Our story will be published in Awesome 'Possum Volume 2 from Flying Dodo Productions. My other professional publications include "Tika's Adventure," an educational tale about bats and wood-rats and their amazing abilities to navigate in darkness, which will appear in a Junior Ranger book from the National Park Service; and "The End!" a parody of a classic Spider-Man story, due for publication in Tales of the Uncanny from About Comics. My self-published comic book Frog Stories received high praise from comics critic Rob Clough: [http://highlowcomics.blogspot.com/2012/07/more-ccs-comics-cockle-studlar-olivares.html]. My self-published comic book The Raven and The Crayfish (which is based upon Native American legends about Crater Lake National Park) won accolades from Park Ranger Dave Grimes: [http://rosswoodstudlar.blogspot.com/2010/04/earth-week-raven-and-crayfish-praise.html]. I work mainly in traditional media such as pen and ink, scratch-board, oil pastel, and gouache paint, and enhance the results or apply lettering in Adobe Photoshop and Indesign. My body of art and writing features the themes of nature, environment, animals, monsters, science fiction, horror, autobiography, and sustainable communities. Samples can be found at rosswoodstudlar.blog.spot.com. If you have a project of any kind (educational or otherwise) which you think would be well-suited to my drawing style or writing style, please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you!
