The following two Acts will be examined more closely: the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) of 1998, and the No Electronic Theft Act (NET) of 1997. Convenience marketing subjected minors to inappropriate solicitation for product placement and maximization. Also, media file-sharing tampered with the entertainment industry’s integrity and revenue. The expansion of the Internet required further developmental provisions to protect children as well as the veracity of the entertainment industry.
