Yes ...I rememer the first time I saw that photo, and I wrote to the artist and asked for permission to paint it....3 weeks I waited and a reply with a big Yes!! I was so excited and jumped around..lol...We still remain friends today and I can paint from any of his fabulous works...He is Italian and I met him when I was on Webshots....which shut last year to the shock of millions as it was a great loving community. They introduced some new yukky cloud thing without telling anybody and the majority revolted and some went to Flickr.....as some people had nobody but their friends they had made. Great that many can keep in touch and also through Facebook.....I love photography too and it goes hand in hand with my art at times.......

I have drawn and painted from this site as well...i wasnt gonna display the work though because it wasnt authorized but you have just encouraged me to reach out and contact the artist. Painted one and pencil drawn the other, himba women with babies.

Em Gee - Over 30 days ago
I got that and it was beautiful Shenavery. Yes just always ask, most people are more than thrilled that you want to do art from their photos....and if this site, then yes do ask as then you don't have to sorry about a thing. I used to be on Webshots and got permission from a lot of people there...but that disbanded and everybody went all over. Some went to flickr...and I have a site there still, althought not on at all this year. Try Flickr and have a look there, and send them a message. A guy from flickr I know emailed me yesterday asking if he could used a photo in a musical video he was putting together of others photos...I said go for it and you have my permission. It just saves in this super sue world with copyrights etc........

3.5K views...188 kudos...I guess you've been ripped off because this portrait deserves the same amount as the views. I'm sure not all of those 3.5 K people knows how to kudo but they had to admire this - the color, texture and expression is exquisite...you have to love it :)
Em Gee - Over 30 days ago
lol....I don't worry about that Ann and yes I did love creating this and all the others in that series...They were a joy thank you and thanks for your concern!!

I love this, with the sweet little baby and its still wobbly head tilting over to the side and facing us. The mother with her hair specially groomed in it's unique way. The mother reminds me of a lady from Africa who used to attend our English as a second language classes. Her name was queen. She was tall, beautiful and statuesque just like the mother in this photo.

You have a great heart of love (and skill) that permeates all you work-- so when you think about your next life-- which I saw alluded to in one of your comments-- might I suggest you run for the highest office(s). We need more leaders with your depth of love as well as sense of beauty. I'm serious.
