Studied and practiced fine art oil painting, many paintings were exhibited at galleries and sold. 2008 Moved back to Cape Town permanently 2009 June Solo exhibition at the Masque Theatre 2009 - present Teaching grades 3 - 7 art at Tamboerskloof Primary School. Suzette Duby was born in Pretoria, South Africa. After school her French artist father sent her to Paris to study art for three years at the Ecole des Metiers d’Art. Her first series of fine art paintings based on Tarot cards was exhibited in Durban in 1987. Producing Fine Art has always been a passion and she honed her oil painting skills with the guidance of 3 practicing artists who are well known in SA, Armando Baldinelli; Ruth Levy and Patrick Rorke. Duby worked as an illustrator and artist until 2000 when she moved to Cape Town, where she taught courses in watercolour; drawing and graphic design for tertiary education at the Mactrain Art College. She went to Dubai in 2003. “I was entranced by the colours, textures and searing heat of the desert and all the customs; architecture; traditions and Islamic art; especially calligraphy which was new to me and tremendously inspiring. I worked on a series of oil paintings using images and direct experience of the Middle East.” For 2 years Duby taught art courses at the Original & Unique Gallery in Al Safa, Dubai and at the DUCTAC Art Centre in the Mall of the Emirates. Duby returned to South Africa in 2008 and exhibited solo at the Masque Theatre. Currently she is teaching art at Tamboerskloof Primary School in Cape town Above all, Suze is an artist with that unique ability to ‘observe.’ She views everything as if she has just seen it for the first time.’ This is what she is able to transfer to her students. It’s an extraordinary place, suffused with colour and stretching to the edge of language.
