Recently graduated from studying Illustration BA at Falmouth University, Southwest England. Working traditionally with a variety of media, I produce detailed aesthetically pleasing imagery. I am particularly fascinated with the effects of light and colour, taking great pleasure experimenting with texture and surface manipulation. My work often follows one of two key techniques; Soft pastels, building up layers and detail or textile. Previous experience as a seamstress has resulted in a style constructed with a mixed media collage combined with an applique style stitch. I occasionally like to tip toe across to ink or paint, creating or adjusting garments and have recently rediscovered a passion for woodwork. Confidently throwing myself into new concoctions of media. I love to explore and am a keen photographer, using this imagery for reference. I'm greatly inspired by all things wild, natural patterns, textures and colours. Passionate to promote biodiversity, the plight of threatened and endangered species and the importance of conservation and environmental awareness; wildlife being a key theme throughout and the cause I wish to aid.

Presently a director of an education company, I have many years experience as an English teacher, most recently of international students. I have a Masters of Education, a BA in English, some law study, and a Graduate Diploma of TESOL. I have travelled widely, particularly in Asia, and have a broad range of interests. In regards to writing, my favorite type of writing is poetry but it is not in my list of skills because who would want to write poetry for money? Nonetheless, poetry is a good training ground for any kind of writing because it teaches flexibility of technique and word use. For any other type of writing, I can work to instructions and meet deadlines. I am a hard-nosed editor and can shape up a piece quickly with a sharp awareness of what the writer 'is going for.' I work towards customer satisfaction.

My life has been creative. I have a natural talent to see things the way others can not. When I was a little girl, I took cartooning art at a nearby college and pursued that for 6 years. When it was time for advanced art in school, my portfolio was accepted and I made it. When high school started, I jumped at the chance of taking art electives, such as sculptures, ceramics, and creative writing. I attended a vocational school, advertising art was the only option. At this time, I went to my favorite art teacher and asked her opinion on my mixed feelings. She said "Simone, you've always done art for yourself. You expressed yourself through paintings, etc. and now you may be requested to create pieces for other people, that's different for you." This amazed me. How could someone interpret my art better than I could? And this is when I realized this vocational class may be perfect. For the population to view it as they please, is what I thought commercial art may be. I received a 97 in that class, and a degree. I am extremely detail-orientated, but when it comes to art, I find the most beautiful pieces are the unknown.
