I have elected to graduate a semester early because I am extremely enthusiastic to enter the workforce immediately I have previously worked in the editorial department of several print and online publications, and am extremely passionate about fashion and beauty, especially in an editorial setting. I currently contribute fashion copy to Red Carpet Fashion Awards, a London-based fashion and style website named one of Time Magazine’s Best Blogs of 2011. Working via e-mail with the founder of the site, based in London, I compare just-released red carpet looks to the runway look, and provide unique fashion commentary. With pressure to provide the first remarks, turnaround time for each critique can be limited to just a few minutes. I also contribute trend reports to the site, such as emerging designers gaining red carpet relevance. This fall, I am working as an editorial intern at Philadelphia Magazine. As a part of Philadelphia Magazine, I ensure that all copy that goes to print is factually correct, in addition to contributing to the web and magazine. Additionally, I contribute copy for the weekly style newsletter “The Goods,” distributed to over 15,000 readers. I have also contributed to sister-magazine, Philadelphia Wedding. This past summer, I held the position of beauty intern at Seventeen Magazine. Working for the beauty department within a major magazine, I quickly learned the absolute importance for organization in an editorial setting. On a day-to-day basis, I took on a number of tasks, from pitching stories for future issues to researching celebrity trends. In addition to contributing to Seventeen.com’s daily style and fashion blog, I pitched, and than took on the responsibility of writing a featured weekly slideshow with my own byline for Seventeen.com’s homepage. After researching celebrity beauty trends for the previous seven days, I then compiled and commented on my ten favorite beauty looks for the week, which were then featured in a slideshow, “Best Beauty Looks of the Week.” I have continued to contribute to Seventeen.com and the style blog since leaving the internship in August 2011. I am also currently the editor in chief of The Villanovan, the official school newspaper of Villanova University, with a weekly distribution of 5,000 copies. An average week requires upwards of 40 hours spent in the office, as well as being available around the clock to manage any additional pressing issues. As Editor in Chief, I am the last to see the paper before it goes to print, and most rigorously copy-edit each page. I will often add last minute additions or edits to articles, in addition to fixing grammatical, stylistic and factual errors. I am also in control of the paper’s social media outlets, including the official website, Facebook page and Twitter account. During my tenure as Editor in Chief, Features editor and Arts & Entertainment editor, I contributed dozens of articles to the paper, including coverage of on-campus events, celebrity interviews and live music reviews. In the fall of 2010, I worked as an editorial intern for Sundae Magazine, a digital magazine available at sundaemag.com, averaging 4,700 – 5,200 unique visitors each month. As a digital editorial intern, I maintained all social media accounts of the magazine, by updating the Twitter account on a daily basis and posting bi-weekly original blog posts. Previous to this, I held the position of Public Relations intern at Kwittken & Company, an elite public relations firm in Manhattan. Hi there. My name's Jonathan Walker. I'm a second year student at Staffordshire University studying script writing. During my time on the course, I've learnt what makes for a good story which will keep the audiences engaged from start to finish. I've also been fortunate enough to have met and interviewed Richard Curtis (the writer of Love Actually, Bridget Jones's Diary, and many more classics) who further helped my understanding of the art of writing. When writing, I like to challenge myself by working with different genres as well as having a go at feature length films alongside shows for TV; by doing this, my aim is to make myself more flexible, therefore I'm happy to take on any genre presented to me. I have a lot of motivation when it comes to writing, allowing for high quality, fairly quick first drafts. As well as scriptwriting, I've had training with the Sony NX70 camera and will soon be undertaking a training course for Adobe Premiere for editing. With this training, I've acted as producer, cameraman and contributed towards both the plot and editing (on Final Cut Pro) for a short film found in my portfolio. More films are planned over the next year. I also have experience at writing articles for magazines having had to create a magazine for an assignment. Also, I've created many posters, both for the magazine and other projects . As I wish to pursue a career in these fields, I'm not necessarily doing it for the money just yet, but rather for the exposure, to get my name out there. Therefore, I'm happy to take on certain projects for a very small price or even do it for free, so long as I'm credited for the work. Since 1992 I've been entertaining at a variety of events; from quaint birthdays to corporate holiday partys. My Party Caricatures are always a hit! Your guests will gather around, talk, and laugh as I comically render them in a favorite sport, hobby, or leisure activity! I really enjoy entertaining at partys with my caricatures, but as an artist, my head is always spinning with new ideas and things I'd like to try. Along the way I've gotten pretty good at a few things too. In 2010 I stumbled onto a new way to draw, digitally, bought the basic equipment, and quickly applied my years of experience to create some of the digital caricatures you will see here in my portfolio. I've been an Art Teacher since 2004, but have been freelancing my Art for as long as I can remember. I started Airbrushing professionally in 1990 and have painted thousands of T-shirts since then! Dozens of people have asked me if I do tattoos, because the Airbrush looks similar. I always answered "No," but recently bought the equipment to see how it works. We'll see where that goes. In 1986 I began practicing Special Effects/Halloween makeup as a freshman in HighSchool. Today, I sculpt and create full head latex masks for fun, but have made and sold copies. I don't want to try and sell you on anything I do, I want you to choose me, because you like what I have to offer. I work to the best of my ability and then some, trying to improve on technique and explore new styles. I don't allow myself to do "so-so" work and would never try to pass anything off just to make a few dollars; my name and the quality I attach to my name is far more valuable than any monetary amount.
