I have been employed as a proofreader for over 40 years and have gained enormous experience. Serving my time (apprenticeship) as a compositor during the hot metal years I progressed through the changes in new technology, gaining two City & Guilds certificates from Napier College in Edinburgh. Once married, I spent 17 years in 'The Scotsman' newspaper and moved on to the financial sector working night shift for Williams Lea. Black Wednesday put paid to that employment and I am presently working with APS group, who recently won the Scottish Government contract from my previous employer, RR Donnelley. I have proofread most types of documents from business cards to medical documents containing hundreds of pages, illustrations, tables, charts, graphs, etc. Previously I read books in foreign languages, examination papers for Edinburgh, Heriot-Watt and Northern Ireland Universities, and publications such as Pathology, Medical Microbiology, Urology, etc. I am approaching retirement age and am looking to work from home in the near future. This venture would be ideal for me. Fit, conscientious, articulate and a real perfectionist to detail, I have a great eye for spacing, layout, etc. and feel I would be of great benefit to your needs. I think I can honestly say that I am one of the last 'old-fashioned' proofreaders left in Edinburgh who still knows how to spell, punctuate, hyphenate and lay out a page as it used to be done. I

I am currently freelancing under the name More Design, based in Chesham on the Metropolitan line. I specialise in providing design and artworking solutions for a variety of PR and Marketing Companies as well as freelancing with larger agencies in the area. My experience to date covers the complete range of promotional scenarios: I have managed an agency team, worked in-house, run my own one-man business and operated under an agency umbrella. As a result of this I am well versed in all of the various relevant design disciplines, from concept through branding to artwork. The software that I work with includes QuarkXpress, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat as well as MS Word and Powerpoint. I have further developed my skills into HTML emails and websites utilising Dreamweaver, HTML and CSS. Inevitably, I am used to liaising with clients, having dealt with all kinds from blue-chip companies downwards, and equally used to handling the expected range of suppliers. I consider myself to be creative as well as organised, tenacious and reliable. I function as well within a team as I do alone; my primary concern always being that the client gets the very best that the unit is capable of producing. Included in my list of former clients are IBM, Renault, and Sainsbury’s. Each of these companies requires an individual approach allied to an adherence to world-wide corporate standards / branding and I have a particular talent for the conceptual and lateral demands that they impose. I have developed solutions across the whole range of communications and promotions having produced catalogues, magazines, adverts, leaflets, brochures, booklets, newsletters, corporate images, exhibitions, posters and manuals as well as HTML emails, banners and websites. Rick Dumont was lucky enough to grow up in New England and creative enough to successfully capture the extraordinary beauty of her landscape. While in the Navy, Rick had the opportunity to travel. Inspired by a different kind of landscape at sea, he purchased his Canon AE-1, which he credits with the start of his photography career. Expanding from land and seascapes to documentary photography, Rick became a photographer for the Foster’s Daily Democrat, where he learned the significance of ‘capturing the critical moment’ to tell a story. He still contributes to the Fosters, most recently with images of the 2011 fire on Ocean Blvd at Hampton Beach and the Tall Ships’ visit to Portsmouth Harbor. As a freelance photographer, Rick is a regular contributor to NHtoDo Magazine, Prescott Park Arts Festival, and events sponsored by the Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce, where he is a member. Rick’s images were featured in the American Bus Association’s Program cover for their annual meeting as well as their 2012 calendar. He also enjoys participating in various art shows with his renowned New England Coastal Images collection. His work can be found in various venues on the NH Seacoast. Currently, it is on display at Ron’s Landing on Hampton Beach, and at The Oar House on Portsmouth’s historic Ceres St. Even with this impressive body of work, Rick enjoys event photography the most. He can be reached at Rick Dumont Images; 978-821-0444, or visit www.rickdumontimages.com
