In addition to being a journalist for a small, local paper I am also an artist whose mediums are primarily ink and pencil, oil, oil pastels and watercolor. My work is an accumulation of surreal images, portraits and *****. Recently, since the arrival of my first child, I have become a stay at home mother with time on my hands for inspired outlets in the vein of crafting and design; decoupage, sewing and fashion, talc carving, and other small projects that keep the creative juices flowing. A student in the sense that I am continually aspiring to learn new methods and techniques, I am not afraid to modify my work (writing included), so that my projects and ideas are never given occasion to stagnate. That, I am convinced, is compensation for any artist’s disadvantage.
