Ms. Merrill is the Senior Consultant for Government Relations for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, an $9 billion global health enterprise. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, she now lives in Pittsburgh and is an avid baseball fan (GO PIRATES.) Besides her beloved son, Herbie, who works for the Texas Rangers (GO RANGERS) Leslie has a beer-fetching pot-belly pig, Layla, a beautiful Maine Coone cat, Tashi and the most adorable blue Chow Chow, Teddy. Since the devastating earthquake in Haiti, Leslie has made several trips to Port-au-Prince, including one several days after the quake, where she coordinated a rescue mission to bring 54 orphans to safety. She continues to work passionately with the Haitian government on medical rescues. I have always written my own copy for television news as well as my freelance tv shows.
