Natalia Shapira SCA http://sculpture.ndesignfantasy.com/ ARTIST'S APPROACH Born near the Ural Mountains of Russia, Natalia Shapira’s talent as a sculptor has taken her artistic career to an international level. Natalia first formal artistic training at the Sverdlovsk College of Arts (1983-1987) qualified her as a teacher of sculpture and drawing. In 1989 Natalia was accepted to Russia Krasnoyarsk University to be classically trained in sculptural art (1989-1994). Participating in several major exhibits, even before the end of her artistic training, Natalia’s successful career as an independent artist has already begun. Cultured in the classic approaches to sculpting, Natalia’s work has achieved universal appeal. In response to her wide acceptance, Natalia took her artistic career to Tel-Aviv, Israel (1996-1999). Working within artistic communities in Israel, Natalia was active in restoration, drawing, and of course, sculpting. Arriving in Canada in 1999, Natalia’s talent was immediately celebrated. Shortly after her arrival, Natalia attained a close relationship with several Canadian galleries where her sculpted works are now on permanent display. With her ever-increasing success Natalia’s original sculptures have earned their place in both international art exhibitions and private collections across North America and Europe . Mastery of form and commitment to her own style is what defines Natalia Shapira’s work. Though every proportion and gesture is considered with precision, there is a true freedom about the style in which she applies to her sculpted *****. Their full and fantastic forms reflect the carefree feeling about them. Possessing a dream-like quality, they are truly embodiments of the artist’s imagination. Working on a small scale in natural materials lends a sense of intimacy to her sculptures. These robust figures also possess a confidence, which spurs a sense of admiration in the viewer; an admiration that marks Natalia Shapira’s sculptures as undeniably attractive. In 2004 was admitted to Society of Canadian Artists . Natalia Shapira currently lives and works in Toronto. FORMATION & CONSACRATION 1994-1998 Republican College of Fine Arts “A. Plamadeala”, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova 1998-2003 Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts, Graphic Department, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova 2005 Master of Fine Arts 2005 Member of Moldovan Artists Association AA (UAP) 2003-2006, 2009 Profesor, Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts, Republic of Moldova All what I do as an artist, I do because of love for a few simple things. I like the continuity and tradition that is quite natural for the family, where the art is already a sort of family legend. I prefer the sparkling surface - this is said to be "deceptive" appearance - of existence to "psychology" of the world and to all that is hidden in the depths of things. For me, every artwork is a return gift to the world. I do invent nothing, I just say: well, this is the place, the object, the icon I love and I bring them back to the world adding some love, some awe.
