KEVIN ANSTIS-ARTIST Kevin has worked as a professional artist for more than 25 years. He works mainly in pastels, a medium he finds very “forgiving” with texture and softness that brings life to the subjects. Kevin also combines watercolour with some of his work to enhance the effects of the pastel and give it even more depth. His unique work is easily recognisable for the use of a very soft colour scheme as well as a touch of romanticism and drama. Kevin’s subjects vary from skyscapes to wildlife, marine and coastal vistas. Kevin also shows great interest in Marine Art, which receives inspiration from his work as an archivist and researcher at the Naval Historical Society of Australia at Garden Island, Sydney. Another way for Kevin to act out historical events and dramas is by creating Flat Tin Figurines, a traditional folk art form from Germany, which he discovered in 1995. Kevin also is any accomplished model maker who has worked on number commissions for maritime museums including The Australian Navy as well as private clients. . Kevin’s solid artistic craftsmanship is based on years of study. Kevin attended Seaforth TAFE between 1979 to 1980 studying painting, life drawing, colour and design, photography and art history as well as the School of Creative Arts in 1985, where he besides the usual topics also studied graphic design, advertising and drama. He received a Certificate of Fine Arts as well as a Diploma of Creative Arts. He added to his arts education by attending years of private tutoring with well know artists such as Brian Agnew. His drawing and painting skills were enhanced during his years as a freelance animation assistant with Channel Nine, ABC as well as for Disney Australia. A major influence in Kevin’s artistic development was his time as artist in residence at Henning International Galleries in Balmain between 1990 to 1995 where he participated in 22 exhibitions with other resident artists such as Pro Hart and Ken Duncan. His works were sold to a number of famous homes. Buyers included the daughter of Russel Drysdale and family as well as the Federal MP Brain Cadman. Since 1995 Kevin has exhibited in numerous local and state exhibitions. I am in love with art and really anything creative, I have had a passion with creativity ever since I could pick up a pen. I started out as a 4 year old kid drawing stick figure super heroes to now being 23 and have done countless sketches ranging from cartoons to still life', I have painted murals, drawn tattoos, made cardboard cutouts, and so much more. I work a night time job, but I'm seeking a way out and I don't want another job. I aspire to have a career doing something I love, something that I don't dread doing everyday, but also something that can support me.

I have had 32 years of wide-ranging commercial experience, generally involving writing in some form or another, including: writing documentation for successful mergers and acquisitions; writing successful applications for clean energy grant funding (100% success rate - $9million approved); submissions to international governments for new product importation and sales; scientific trial reporting; research and development; high level corporate correspondence and documentation; business consultancy; writing sales training manuals, writing product marketing literature. I can be helpful to men and women seeking assistance in preparing a business plan or fund raising proposal; creating marketing material for new concepts; requiring constructive editing of documents and so on. I am a one-project-at-a-time man as I tend to immerse myself totally in the business at hand and do not have a rote-format approach to what I do. I tend to treat each project as if it were my own and derive great satisfaction from successes achieved. I have lived and worked extensively in Australia and overseas including in London and in SE Asia. I am a graduate of University of New England (Dux Honours Farm Management) and won a Commonwealth Scholarship to Sydney University where I studied but did not complete Arts-Law. I am fit and active having been in Australia's Olympic Athletics squad and All Schools 400m champion in my younger days. I jog and swim daily and windsurf when the wind is up. I have written two books and two volumes of short stories and am married with 5 sons and 2 grandsons.
