I have a BFA in Sculpture/Drawing. I specialize in bronze casting, figure modeling, and metal fabrication. I jump back and forth between form and chaos in each piece. This creates tension as the form emerges from the medium while the medium stays alive and plays an active role in each sculpture.

ABOUT ME: I have liked making art for a very, very long time. I was first inspired at home by my mother Marianne, who was an amazing oil painter and also my sister Shirley, who was excellent at calligraphy. On TV I was inspired by Mr. Dress-Up where the host (Ernie Coombs) illustrated his stories in cartoon form right in front of the viewer’s eyes. Leonardo Da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, and M.C. Escher are my favorite famous artists. My favorite traditional art tool is the HB pencil and a sketchbook. It can be brought anywhere and can be used at any time. I like practicing art wherever I am. Often, I like to start a drawing spontaneously, but am constantly making plans in my head that sometimes go many steps ahead. This level of concentration is fun and relaxing. I believe the act of drawing is a fusion of mind, body and soul. Recently I have become extremely proficient working with Procreate on an iPad. The combination of iPad, apple pencil, and the Procreate app are excellent for illustration and editing as well! EDUCATION: At River East Collegiate, I received awards as the schools’ top art student in grade 10 and 12. At Red River College, I studied Structural Drafting for a year where I enjoyed the technical and linear side of blueprint drawing as an art form and attention to detail. At St Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, I studied Graphic Design for 3 years. There I was taught traditional art skills and how to use digital technology, I am a Photoshop master! WORK: I worked at Native Reflections as the Senior Graphic Designer for 15 years where I have been creating visual art (children’s books, characters, spot illustrations) every work day since 2005.
