Two years ago, I was preparing for a couple of the craziest adventures in my life. I was about to get married and ship off for a teaching job in South Korea. The wedding, for me, was no big deal. My best friend and I were simply about to get dressed up and do the sprinkler, shopping cart and running man in front of everyone we knew. Our impending move to Korea, however, was another thing entirely. I was terrified, prematurely homesick and generally losing my mind with worry. Even in the airport, I was fantasizing that some external force (relieving me of all responsibility) would get me out of boarding what felt like my personal Tardis. I may have not wanted to get on that plane, but it’s probably the finest decision I’ve ever made. I learned to work hard and take orders; two things, admittedly, I was not great at before that job. I also learned that if you want something, the best thing you can do is do it. Interested in travel? Buy the ticket. Have a deadline to meet? Start in on it now. That may sound too easy and sometimes it is. But, when Joss Whedon directs the musical version of my life story someday, it is that year and those lessons that the quirky female lead will daydream about and smile as she rides the Max to her awesome writing/editing gig in Portland (with an establishing shot of the Da Tung & Xi'an Bao Bao sculpture, simply because I dig it). Though I studied creative writing in university, I feel like a closeted writer. I blog, sure, and of course I have plans to be the next Steinbeck, but it’s time to roll up my pant legs and wade into the lexicon for a living. I want to create, write and edit. And I want to be around folks who want that, too.

Artist Statement: Call me an illustrator or a graphic artist, But I do art for survival, not money. Give me any tool -- be it pastel, paint, paper, or pen, Give me any assignment -- illustrating animal intelligence, advertising a concert, making a children's book; I will always show my true colors. For beneath my job title lie a deep passion for creation and a love of color, An eccentric sense of humor, As well as a zen acceptance of life And an intense appreciation for the natural beauty surrounding me; A beauty as free as oxygen and sunlight, If we only know how to see it -- This I convey through a humanist quality to my work; To abandon it would mean abandoning myself. I live art, I breathe art, and through art, I embrace my existence. --- I am a creative problem solver and am my work is often quirky or unconventional in comparison to that of others. Skills include Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, watercolor, cut paper, pen & ink, digital photography, Microsoft Office, writing & editing, and communication. Please note that I have only uploaded a small sample of my work into my profile for protection from exposure. It does not serve as an accurate representation of my full body of work. I am a graphics design major and an undergraduate still pursuing school. I work independently, without a team and directly with clients, assisting them with selecting and/or determining their needs, drawing, setting-up, designing of art and assuring that the customer is satisfied through-out the process. Proficient in Adobe software and MicroSoft office products. Produce all design work on Mac. Please do not think that what is in my portfolio is all that I can do. I had more, the examples that were to be used were from all the projects completed in school and now, due to an untimely mishap with my flash drive, I no longer have any ability to access my once rich and varied portfolio. The only option I have is continuing to design to add more to the one started on here. However it seems I can only do that with YOUR help. I have had over 4 years experience in the industry. Familiarity with the print process, and have had completed packaged projects delivered successfully. I have cutting edge design concepts with fully copyrighted images. Experienced with everything from conceptual design to the print room. I DO NOT DO WEBSITES OR COMPUTER PROGRAMING.
