I look at every project as a chance to use what I’ve learned, as well as teach me something for the next opportunity. I’ve been very fortunate to work with great people on fun projects. That said, and as nice as all that sounds—I do what I do for myself. As a kid growing up in the visually vibrant 60s and 70s, I was attracted to (and later consumed by) the creativity around me, and that initial infatuation has never left. I’ve rolled it into what I’m doing this very day. I put my individual take on whatever I do, but always guided by what works for my clients and collaborators. Graphic design, illustration, and filmmaking are all related, they’re not really different disciplines— just extensions of each other. Even with my Working Chi podcast, I take my client work, and mentorships I have with students and find, happily enough, that it always comes back to the familiar territory of creativity.

Throughout my education, I have developed a natural instinct for learning new systems and concepts as well as the rigorous application for the necessary tools in the field. In addition to academic work, my experience also includes working part-time internships dealing with small to mid-size scale projects. My dedication and work allowed me to build a stellar reputation among my previous employers for quickly and effectively resolving issues. I am a detail oriented and thoughtful professional prepared to excel in the field. In my previous employment my range of work varied greatly I would develop brochures, flyers, posters, postcards, even manage artwork for web blasts as well as publications (magazines), single ads and even small video. All of my previous experience and education has prepared me to cope with deadlines, prioritize and develop multitasking skills. I believe that my academic training and field experience is well-suited for the Graphic Artist position available with your company. 3rd generation artist, I've had no formal training. I taught myself pen and ink and after completing 5 drawings, interviewed with the largest clip art firm in the country and landed a job that lasted 10 years. Then I was inspired by the beauty of Western art when I attended a local show, so I spent a year teaching myself watercolor painting and was showing there a year later. Traveled, photographed, showed for 10 years, but marketing was never my strong suite and I had to make a living doing other things. Now, off the grid, enjoying country life, I'm having a blast dying tshirts and creating art for fun. Family comes first but I'll always be on the lookout for my next inspiration, my next project, my next technique to master.
